I've been lurking outside the Furry community for over a decade now, having been introduced by some of my online friends, and I begrudgingly tolerated the weirdness for their sake. Around 2013, I was going through a really dark time at an impressionable age, not having any real friends irl and staying locked in my room most of the time, avoiding family. My first interactions came on DA, where I had finally managed to make a few friends, even if they were online. From here, I was introduced to the Furry community and begrudgingly tolerated the weirdness for my friends. I would joke and tease, but as I became more tolerant and open-minded on behalf of my friends, I began to really connect and appreciate how open and how fun Furries seemed to be; Looking up videos of cons, and experiencing what I imagined it'd be like to actually have friends or at least people with the same interests.

In honesty, I think that my pull towards this community saved me from going down a much darker path, and becoming a much more vile person. I remember being inspired, having a creative peak and spending hours writing stuff with a few of my DA friends. Given time, most of my friends quietly parted ways, deactivating accounts and dropping off without any way of getting back in touch. Since then, I've found myself in a depressive rut, my creative skills plummeting and that after school distraction gone.

I had never truly engaged with the Furry community aside from my initial anonymous DA account, and even then, I never really pushed myself to reach out or engage.

That's where this is changing, I'm done lurking on the outside, I'm ready to join the party.

So, I guess this is something of an introduction, and an apology to the Furry community for taking so long to come out of my shell, as well as an apology to myself for holding myself back.
