Take a moment to say "thank you"
There's a lot of hoopla about the ban on cub porn, and I just want to take a moment to say:
Your opinion of cub porn does not matter, and neither does mine.
What does matter is this: Dragoneer, et al. made two decisions by modifying the policy for posting cub art. The first was a financial decision, and it was a simple one: Either cub porn goes away, or FA as we know it goes away (whether that means shutting down, switching to paid memberships, etc.).
The second was a community decision, and it was a very difficult one. Believe it or don't, the site admins did not want to place a ban on cub porn. Filters can be put in place so that we, the users, don't have to see anything we don't want to. There ARE filters in place for exactly this purpose. Filters, however, do not change content, and content is what caused AlertPay to stop financially supporting FA.
The admins knew that they would get flak for the decision, but it was made anyway because it had to be made to keep FAAWKI alive. And even if you disapprove of the decision, I think you'll agree with me in saying that a FA without cub porn (or without vore, or without insert-your-favorite-noun-here) is better than no FA at all.
This was a difficult decision that they had to make they will have far-reaching consequences for the community we have here, so if you're glad they made this decision (even if you aren't happy with it), why not take a few moments and send them a note to tell them thanks for doing what they can for keeping FA alive?
Goodness knows they've already gotten enough flames for keeping it alive.
