Portraits and portfolio’s are a specialty for me almost a fetish, adding that bit of glamor to a person appearance and persona. Making them something special to the viewer highlighting they’re special details and giving the picture a life and a feeling of it’s own.

To do this I try to pick a back ground that compliments they’re look but also leaves a mystical feeling to the shot. Something to draw the eye to the picture in the first place. Then placing the main frame of the picture compilation in the center with other images and poses. This can be done with upto 5 poses or just a full body and a facial. After that it’s about highlights and picture touch ups bring out and sharpening things that need to stand out. For this I use Picasa 3. It’s a free software bundle that can be down loaded from the net. For layering and more subtle touch ups I use GIMP 2. While these are not as common or fine in utility as Photoshop they’re free and produce a nice quality picture. I do intend to upgrade to Photoshop in the future, but for now I’m content to use these free tools.
