Slots can be protected or public, and can be inherited. When a slot is inherited, its initial value will be changed, but it will not be renamed. However, it will be able to inherit methods from the superclass, if any. Moreover, it will be able to ignore any extra arguments. If you do not want to use this feature, you can omit it.
