Mayhaps I'd been overthinking (G)
So in my previous Journal I was mentioning how I want to get better at other 'specs before I start diving into the world of drawing furries as a freelance artist; and there is a grain of truth to that, as gaining experience as an artist is key to perfection! But now that I think about it more, the more I realize that, while I might not be able to draw a mechanical human with an insect-like body of a taur or something, that shouldn't make me pigeonhole myself into not doing commissions because... I can't draw everything? Something a lot of people deal with daily?
So yeah; I'm okay at insects, somewhat. Amazing at wolves and dragons and cats and birds, feral and anthro alike. I'm amazing at drawing feathers and wings and anything in between; I can't draw humans very well (you'd scream, trust me) and I still need to get better at dynamic poses, and alongside the wink-wink nudge-nudge stuff. I don't think I'd need to be analyzing every detail and if I fall short, then blame myself for it ten times over. You are your own worst critic, after all.
I'll consider making some more partial body and full body drawing speedruns before opening up commissions, just so I can get a glimpse on:
How long they'll all take
How many I can do before I burnout for a day or two
How dynamic or complicated I can make things before it becomes too much
How well I do on stuff I don't know well, and
How well I can do the stuff I already know how to do!
And math can help do the rest; boy has GED classes paid off in that regard!
I still may do some random peoples characters tho. Or just do a huge compilation of other people's characters in things related to the above stuff I may do! Pulling a character out of a hat that didn't exist a moment ago is more tiring than one would think.
