I should note, as it is of some importance, that this is actually a two-person joint account. Unless otherwise noted, on average, any art posted here will be produced by Da (the red panda posting this notice) and flat color work will be done by Cheops (the dhole and other half of the equation.) If it is not our art, and the possibility exists that things will be posted that are not, we will note it-- Or Cheops will, as he'd be the only one posting anything belonging to anyone else, and exclusively for the sake that he might have colored something for someone, with their permission. He does so love to color.
Any writing posted will also be courtesy of Cheops, because I cannot write to save my life. (I can, sort of. But it's nothing worth reading, I promise you.)
I also promise that I will, some day, actually post something. It isn't that I don't produce art-- I just that I sort of tend to hoard my completed art and never remember to save them as anything visible on an internet media. Fortunately there are plenty of people in my life prodding and reminding me that I really, really ought to.... Heh.
As a general statement, I use references. I was under the assumption that this is a perfectly normal thing artists do (as every single artist I have ever spoken to has always said they reference everything from photos, to figures, to CGI images, to life drawing...) and every art class I have ever attended has used a reference of some sort; but as I don't wish to be accused of not saying that I use references, here I am saying that I do. Often, when I want to do a quick and efficient piece in a pose I may be less familiar with drawing, I use the website https://www.posemaniacs.com. I definitely recommend them, they are awesome and free for the artists of the world to use. Other times, I use photos I may have found on the big, wide interbutts, and linking to each and every one of them is hardly practical- Especially since I often reference three to five images if I'm drawing something I'm uncertain about so I can attempt to get it right (and especially since all I ever use a reference for is usually the pose itself, or something difficult like hands or toes.) If I do reference something from another artist, or from anything other than general or stock photography, I will do my damndest to link to it (assuming that it is enough of a reference to even merit mentioning, honestly, and assuming it exists on the internet where I even -can- link it.) I don't believe in tracing, except for the sake of inking my own art (which is hardly tracing, now, is it?)
