Long time no post!

I was able to attend Vancoufur last week - my first ever furcon! - and had a wonderful time. Met a lot of old friends and some people I've met briefly online IRL! It was invigorating and very needed.

The last few years since starting this account, I've been trying to decide how much of a place art would hold outside of my day job in the animation industry. I have friends in furry and I really enjoy the community here and its creativity and wanted to at least try and get involved, despite spending many creative hours during the week. It's obviously been slow going, with a lot of false starts and "I'm definitely posting more next week!" type sentiments. That same period of time has been a slow process of learning how to live w some chronic health issues & learn some life skills I missed out on earlier. I've been frustrated not being able to do things consistently, but I am improving bit by bit, and I'm hoping to try more tricks to help me be a little more productive in my side pursuits.

Related to that sentiment, I'm back in the industry on a technically demanding project that's made me realize I have some back-to-basics work to do with my technical skills! Namely, I need to get faster - be able to lay a sketch down quickly and accurately, and be able to cut myself off from trying to fix things over rendering. Idea is to set challenges for myself in this space - "do a piece in two hours, only flat colours! - do a sketchbook page and post it without tidying it up!" - that kind of thing. I'm hoping it can close the circle a little.

It's all talk until I post something, so - hopefully I won't be deleting this journal out of shame in a few weeks, haha! Until then o7
