The expression "pay it forward" is used to describe the concept of asking that a good turn be repaid by having it done to others instead. In contract law, typically there are two parties but there is the concept of third party beneficiaries. Pay it forward merely applies this contract law concept so that third party beneficiary be a stranger to the creditor. More specifically, the creditor offers the debtor the option of "paying" the debt forward by lending it to a third person instead of paying it back to the original creditor. Debt and payments can be monetary or by good deeds. In sociology, this concept is called "generalized reciprocity" or "generalized exchange". A related transaction, which starts with a gift instead of a loan, is alternative giving. - Wikipedia
When 11 1⁄2-year-old Trevor McKinney (Osment) begins seventh grade in Las Vegas, Nevada, his social studies teacher Eugene Simonet (Spacey) gives the class an assignment to devise and put into action a plan that will change the world for the better. Trevor's plan is a charitable pyramid scheme, based on good deeds rather than profit. He calls his plan "Pay it forward", which means the recipient of a favor does a favor for a third party rather than paying the favor back.
Trevor does a favor for three people, asking each of them to "pay the favor forward" by doing favors for three other people, and so on, along a branching tree of good deeds.
So why not us? If you have a desire to change the world for the better... hell, even make a change in your small community, even your own household... then join this group. As Trevor McKinney said, the deeds aren't supposed to be easy. They are supposed to be hard. You may not get a chance to do such a powerful deed for quiet a while, but as long as you let that seed grow in your heart, you will one day see its blossom. In turn, you will plant seeds in another. So, go do something miraculous for someone. All that you ask in return is that they do something miraculous for three other people, so on and so on.
Though you should not expect a gold star for doing a good deed, because then the deed is selfish, feel free to post something wonderful you have done in a shout. I will compile these into inspirational journals for others to read.
In the meantime, go do little deeds. Little deeds ball up into something wonderful.
"Some people are too scared or something to think things can be different. The world’s not exactly…shit. I guess it’s hard for some people who are so use to things the way they are-even if they’re bad- to change and they kinda give up and when they do, everybody loses." - Trevor McKinney Pay It Forward

I want to go help! :) (G)
I have been craving, almost thirsting, to go do something good.
I've already decided that once I get a mode of transportation that I am going to join Hospice. I am going to become a companion for a dying person who has no one on this Earth. Personally, I am terrified of dying. Death itself doesn't scare me, but the process of dying terrifies me. When I die, I want someone to be by my side. Family, friends, doctors, nurses, a religious figure of someone not even of my own belief... I don't care. A perfect stranger with a big heart would be fine. Just someone.
Lots of people feel that way, and yet, they have no one.
Hospice has a program, I forget the name off the top of my head, Angel Something, but my friend in nursing told me about it. It is for volunteers to be companions to those without anyone who are dying. This is a huge gift to give someone. The gift of thinking something nice as their last thought, knowing someone is holding their hand and will think of their memory throughout their own lives. Isn't that a tremendous gift?
It's not for the faint of heart. Some people cannot handle this, but I can. I've already held a dying friend before. I was happy that I was there with her. She had someone and that is all I could think about. At least she had someone. Giving this to a perfect stranger will only enrich the lives of the dying, the volunteer and the Hospice team at large.
Also, I got two luxury down pillows recently for my birthday. I've never had luxury pillows before. I love them so much. I want to keep them, but I am thinking of giving one to my mom who is bedridden with lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. It would benefit her tremendously. I hope it will ease her neck pain. These pillows are so full of down that they bounce back into fluffy shape instantly. They support the neck and are cool to the touch and warm when you need it. So, I'll give one to her. :) I'll give her the big king-sized one I got.
If any of you have inspiring stories of things you have done or plan to do, or know of anyone who needs help that I can advertise, please note me! :) I'd love to post journals about you all!
Peace and love.
