The dolphin in the queue (G)
Under the golden sun of a summer afternoon, the beach stretched out like a long carpet of golden sand, lapped by calm, blue waves. It was a lively, vibrant place, populated by a multitude of anthropomorphic animals enjoying every moment of that perfect day. There were hares with straw hats, dogs playing Frisbee, penguins sheltering under colorful umbrellas, and even a couple of pumas building sand castles with almost artistic commitment.
Watching over the shore, with elegance and attention, was a lifeguard dolphin. Her slender, shapely figure stood out against the sky, wearing a fiery red costume that enhanced her slim, athletic figure. With watchful eyes, she followed every movement of the bathers, ready to intervene but also aware of the growing desire for a refreshing break. Nearby, a small wooden kiosk attracted a constant coming and going of animals: colorful granitas, coconut smoothies, and tropical fruit were cheerfully served.
The dolphin watched the line grow, judging the right moment to approach. She would wait. After all, safety came first. When the line seemed to start to thin out, she moved gracefully between the umbrellas. But her plan was slowed: more animals were arriving.
A plump pigeon had sat on the sand, noisily munching on a bag of chips he had brought from home. The dolphin noticed him. With feigned casualness, he pointed to a bar off the beach, just beyond the dunes. The pigeon, convinced, stood up and walked away satisfied, unaware of the benevolent deception.
With a satisfied look, the dolphin advanced further, but before she had taken ten steps, a surfing otter settled in the shade, reading a book with an absorbed expression. Her eyes were a little tired, perhaps thirsty. The dolphin pointed to the nearest fountain: a small jet of fresh water next to the lifeguard cabin. The otter smiled in thanks, leaving his post.
The kiosk was now within fin reach. But an imposing shadow fell on the sand: a bodybuilder alligator had arrived, very enormous biceps, swollen and shiny, like balloons ready to pop. He was wearing mirrored sunglasses and positioned himself right in front of the kiosk, taking up half the view with his sculpted frame. The dolphin studied him for a moment, then strategically positioned a portable mirror nearby, reflecting his biceps in all their glory. The alligator lost himself in it, admiring himself, flexing and sighing at his own majesty.
Finally free of obstacles, the dolphin reached the kiosk. She ordered a tropical seafood granita, fresh and aromatic, which she savored while sitting in the shade. The first cold drops on her tongue made her close her eyes for a moment of pure pleasure. Shortly after, he also invited some nearby bathers to share that freshness, enjoying a well-deserved break.
The sun slowly set, dyeing the sand orange and pink. The sea continued to sing, and the beach, still full of life, took a break with its silent marine heroine.
