Ribbit (G)
15 years agoI don't normaly get on here but today during work I wrote a short story about a ladybug so I'm gonna put it here
Lonely ladybug
The lonely ladybug was sitting on a leaf. She thought to herself as she ate bits and pieces of it, "why am I so lonely". So she opened her wings and fluttered them a bit to warm them up. She took off and few through the maze of branches high up in the trees. She passed sleeping owls, other insects and some snakes. She just kept flying till her wings would fly no more. The ladybug found a small hole in a tree to curl up for the night. Her only thoughts were to avoid those pesky predators of the night. In the morning she woke to find someone else was sharing the little hollow with her. The thing was a curious creature, the ladybug couldn't help herself from investigating it. She glided over and landed on-top of it. She started at the bottom. It had five little toes and a small foot. As she was crawling upward the creature made a happy noise and wiggled. This made the lady bug jump off the creature. It sat up and looked at the lonely ladybug. "hello",it said. The lady just fluttered it's wings in preparation to leave. "oh, please don't go I'm so lost won't you help me?" it said. At that moment the ladybug knew it was a she. As she stood up the ladybug was frightened, she was a lot bigger then the ladybug. The ladybug was amazed at the girl, she had wings like a dragonfly and long bright orange hair hanging down past her shoulders. She skin was a light brown, the color of an oak tree. She wore leafs stitched together to cover parts of her body. "oh? Your wondering what I am? I'm a forest faerie. I can tell what your thinking." The ladybug was shocked. She flew up into the air and fluttered she wings in front of the faerie and thought about her name. "Your names Reddy? What an odd name for a ladybug. My names Timber, nice to meet you." Timber said. The ladybug landed on Timber's shoulder and Timber jumped out the hole to fly off. Reddy had no idea where she was, as she had just flown on a random course. Timber sighed thought fully and started flying north.
Two nights prior, Timber was buzzing around her little house inside of a massive oak tree. She lived by her lonely self. The house wasn't much of a house it was a little hole in the tree that led to a massive cavern and branched off into smaller caverns. Some of the holes branching off from the main chamber she couldn't fit into. She had come across this place while flying though the trees. She loved to collect stuff and her home was full of all the treasure she had collected. As she was buzzing around a snake slowly slithered it's way into her home. It was raining outside. The snake moved silently up behind Timber and was about to strike when Timber said "Don't do it Ralph I'm a forest faerie." well the snake was shocked that she knew his name. "Who are you? How do you know my name faerie." the snake hissed. " My names Timber and it's written all over your mind." the snake was hungry it didn't care who or what the snake was. So he lunged at Timber. Timber was quick and could read the snakes mind. The snake was quickly knock unconscious with a quick smack to the head with a one of her treasures. She felt sorry for the snake, she would find him some food. She left in search of snake food, but what do snakes eat besides faeries? Darting between leafs her attention was reverted when SMACK she ran head first into something hard and not moving. She fell fast at first but it turned to a glide as her wings caught her. She laid on the ground for a while before getting up and looking for a place to rest as she was in pain and it was raining. Spotting a hole in a tree she made like a dart for it. Inside the tree was dry and warmer, Timber soon found herself passed out.
It had been three days since Reddy and Timber had met. Timber couldn't remember her way home. Reddy was happy to have a friend. They were resting on a branch in an old cotton tree when a dragonfly buzzed passed them. The fly stopes and looked at the odd two. "Hellu. My name Bart. Who are you?" "My names Timber and this is Reddy. Were lost. Were looking for my tree home but I got this bump on my head and I don't remember the way." Reddy was looking at the dragonfly with awe. She liked his wings they was just like Timbers. She looked back at her own they were just ordinary. The dragonfly stared at the ladybug. Timber looked down, " your wings are just fine Reddy no need to be sad about them." Reddy put on a smile and looked on at Bart. "I'm good at finding places mabie I can help you find your home!" Bart said. " that would be wonderful" exclaimed Timber. Bart put his head against Timbers and neighed. He took off at a fast paced Timber could barely keep up with him. Reddy was just holding on to Timbers leaf skirt. It was a long fast flight but soon they were at the faeries tree. Timber was doing a weird celebration dance. They went inside to find the snake starring at them. "Timber you thumped me over the head and knocked me unconscious. Then you left me here for three days.but I guess I deserve it cause I tried to eat you. I'm sorry." Timber went from scared to angry to sad while the snake talked. "Well Ralph I am sorry, I shouldn't of knocked you out. I went to find you food and ended up getting knocked out myself. After I woke up I couldn't remember Whig way was home." Bart had made him self comfortable on a pile of soft looking grass. Reddy was poised on Timbers shoulder ready to help if she needed it. "if you don't mind, can I stay here with y'all it's quite comfortable and I enjoy exploring the little caverns in here?" asked Ralph. " Timber was ecstatic she would love to have friends share she home with her. Reddy wanted to stay to. Bart wasn't going to stay, he liked to roam about. Everyone was sad but Bart said he would visit often. Bart never forgot how to get somewhere once he had been there. They all had berries and fruit for dinner, even Ralph. Then Bart took off and it was late and time to go to bed. Reddy wasn't lonely anymore and she was happy.
