♂ | 38 | Pansexual | Closed RelationshipHey guys, I'm Rin Elyran, and I was born to Czech, Slovak, German,
and Scotch-Irish descent. I was born in 1986, and I have an open and nondiscriminatory mind
and heart for all nationalities, religions, genders, and orientations; I judge people by their personalities alone.
Speaking of religion, I was baptized and confirmed as a Catholic, and while I like to share
my personal religious beliefs to any who are interested, I don't consider myself to be hardcore devout,
and I prefer not to force my beliefs on anyone.
Despite my account indicating that I've been a user since 2019, I have actually been a FurAffinity user since 2013.
My username was inspired by the late J.W. Rinzler (1962-2021), the author of several "making of" books
related to Star Wars and Indiana Jones who was also the inspiration for the character named "Rinzler", in the movie
Tron Legacy. "Elyran" is a portmanteau of "electronics" and the Lyran Commonwealth in the BattleTech universe.
My main fox character was born on December 13, 1977.
I have a strong passion for all things electronic, especially video game systems, vintage computers,
calculators, and audio equipment. When it comes to computing, I don't prefer one platform over another
(e.g. Windows over macOS, and vice versa). If the machine works, I'll happily use it, even without
an owner's manual, because it's a great opportunity to learn more about that particular computer
or operating system. I also play music on instruments like steel-stringed acoustic guitar, electric guitar,
lap dulcimer, keyboard/synthesizer, mandolin, electric violin, and drum machine.
I will never bore you with the behind-the-scenes technicalities of anything I post here (because I'm sure you probably won't care, anyhow),
but if you do care, I would love to answer any questions you might have
about the equipment I record with or the photo apps and editors I use, for example.
I am also a sucker for anything made by Sharp, Seiko, Sony, Casio, Canon, and Panasonic; in fact,
many of the modern and vintage electronics I collect were made by any of these six brands.
I do hope that you enjoy what I have to offer, and you're always welcome to thank me for leaving you a shout
on your profile, watching your profile, commenting on your work, and/or favoriting your work. :3

Taking Care of Unfinished RC Business
I will admit that I have been waiting for the weather to get moderately cool, and after keeping an eye on the local forecast, I decided that this week would be the best week to wrap up some RC car projects that I started last year, and I'm happy to say that I have found some time to finish my Tamiya Subaru BRZ, and add some upgrades to my Tamiya Plasma Edge II and my Kyosho Optima Mid. The BRZ is only two coats of paint away before I add the finishing touches (e.g. additional body parts like side mirrors and license plates, decals, etc), though I will wait until I visit my brother again before painting the windows, as he has the Smoke colored paint I need to complete the project. I ordered a set of upgrades for the Tamiya TT-02 chassis that will be used with the BRZ body shell, upgrades like two aluminum driveshafts and a complete set of metal bearings. The parts will be here soon enough, and pictures of the BRZ are expected to be uploaded by February 2026.
The reason I ordered two of the same aluminum driveshafts is that they are compatible with the TT-02 and TT-02B chassis, the latter of which is used for the Plasma Edge. My Optima Mid now has a Dumbo RC X6DC(G) with a gyro sensor in it, to improve stability while taking very tight curves. While testing the Optima Mid, I managed to make the motor pinion gear become jarred loose, and the culprit was the pinion's grub screw loosened itself. This was fixed by instilling a drop of Loctite on the grub screw before re-fastening it to the motor.
I've also begun putting aside some money for my nieces and nephews for Christmas gifts. Nonetheless, the road ahead looks good for my RC hobby. ^^
When we last hung out together, my oldest nephew had an awesome time with taking my Arrma Senton for a spin while I manned my Arrma Granite, figuring that the Senton and the Granite would be the most durable of my six cars. He doesn't know this yet, but I will be getting him an RC car for Christmas, and the car he'll be getting is no bigger than my LOSI Mini-T 2.0, so it looks like future RC car races are on the table for him and I.
