Okay, so... I've been called Skywise by my family and friends since I was about 3 years old. It is just as much my name as my given name, and I use it very interchangeably, even IRL. And for those that automatically think that I got it from the Elfquest character by the same name, prepare for disappointment - Elfquest premiered in the latter years of the 1970s, and I've been called Skywise since the early 70s.
To drive the point a bit deeper, the reason why I was given the nickname was my avid interest in space exploration and astronomy. That interest led me to obtain a bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering from Penn State University (class of 1993), and while I have worked in the aerospace industry, I am now a software quality assurance engineer, mainly doing IT work, with a fair touch of computer consulting on the side to help people having issues with their computers - mainly the elderly, actually.
I realize that the name Skywise can be either, so let me state unequivocally that I am male. My mate is female (and she's a totally awesome writer and published author - though she also writes some quite incredible fanfiction works as well - note me if you have any interest in her work!), and yes... I do refer to her as my mate, as well as my wife. We were married in September of 1994. I suppose I should add that you shouldn't let this fact throw you too much as I have to consider myself bisexual, which I actually came to realize due to my mate.
I think of myself as being (and deliberately staying) on the periphery of the furry fandom, though I would say that I've been involved since the early 90s - Anybody remember the alt.fan.dragons newsgroup that was very active before that advent of the World Wide Web? I was amazed to find out that the MUCK for it is actually still around!
Anyhow, I'm generally always busy busy, but I enjoy meeting others and chatting and such, so feel free to note me, or (since AIM is officially gone) message me on Skype or Telegram - I won't apologize, but I'm not active on any other social media, though I do have Skywize on livejournal that I rarely ever update. I'm fairly certain that I'll never have either a Twitter or Facebook account. Bleh.
Zhai'helleva, all!

Check out this incredible artist's raffle!
After watching Dakarai for quite a long time, I finally managed to commission her. I gave her a very general idea to go with, and she produced this incredible image that I had printed and is hanging on a wall in my home where I see (and admire) it every day. I sincerely hope to commission her again sometime.
Anyhow, she has achieved 2,000 watchers (and thoroughly deserves more), and is now doing a free raffle!!
Give her a watch, and nab an entry (or two, even)!
