What am I doing here??
Hello, if you're reading this, you've happened upon my profile somehow! I mainly wanted to infodump some general idea for who I am and what I'm doing here, as well as engage in some lazy creative writing.
I have been here for a long time, a lot longer than it appears, about 15 years, but this body is fairly new! The Spacedog is a relatively new creation to represent my personal interests in the fandom on the Safe For Work side of things. I realized that I was not entirely proud of putting my NSFW art along side art of this character/fursona, and so I've made the separation!
About me:
Name: Spacedog1991 / Lazarus
Pilot: Skia (The player behind the dog...or The dog behind the dog)
Pronouns: He/him or they/them - robotic feelings will not be hurt by misgendering.
Species: Robotic Canine
Job: Solo space traveler. Captain & mechanic.
Name origins:
The unit designation Spacedog1991 is an homage to the retrowave/vaporwave aesthetic and was inspired by FrankJavCee's "Simpsonwave 1995"
Plus, I Got sick of trying to find usernames everywhere and it's unique enough to go anywhere I want!
The name Lazarus was given to the suit to represent the new life that the pilot is able to have when viewing the world through new, robotic eyes. Also because Spacedog1991 does not roll off the tongue.
The name Skia is what the Pilot calls themselves when not operating the suit.
Any & all names are fine to call me!
The Character:
I'm still playing with a working name, but I have been calling the character Lazarus, or the body a "Lazarus Suit." The character is based loosely on the original 90's robotic dog toy Tekno. Though not directly related, maybe Tekno a distant cousin of the robotic dog portrayed here. Lazarus isn't a living, breathing creature, but instead a cybernetic avatar controlled by a pilot (The player.) It allows for easier and safer travels through Space & time, as well as an ability to spend long periods dormant while the pilot goes about their life as normal.
The Lore:
Lazarus mostly stays aboard his ship, drifting aimlessly through space. There is no mission set in stone, but the goal is to observe and record as many interesting phenomena as possible. Whether it be visiting distant planets and meeting a new species, discovering interesting flora, witnessing planetary & community events, or just watching the stars. Occasionally, his ship has enough power to break through to other multiverses. The bridge can't be maintained long, but it's always fascinating to peer into the veil and see what peers back.
The Goal:
The goal of Spacedog1991 is to be an avatar for myself (The pilot of this craft) to indulge in the furry fandom in working life - a way to engage with the furry fandom outside of the adult side. Mostly, Lazarus is a face that I can feel proud to share with others. Building him started out as a half-baked thought of maybe one-day livestreaming, and creating a new body with which to do so. He has evolved to be a part of me that represents a lot more than just a facade, but an extension of self through which I view the furry universe. In the last few years that I've been building Lazarus, I've come to realize there's so much more to the fandom than I ever gave it credit for. Behind the veil of furries furiously yiffing, the community is full of wonderful people that generally welcome everyone, and value inclusiveness and love over everything else. There is an obscene beauty to be seen in the great melting pot that is the furry fandom.
The universe is vast and glorious, there is so much love to be had, so much to see, and only so much time.
See you, space cowboy.
