King and Queen Twice were thrilled to discover the queen was with calf eight and ten years ago. The royal family had desperately prayed for an heir but struggled to conceive successfully, with the queen suffering multiple great losses and falling into periods of darkness that seemingly swept over the entirety of the great kingdom. The pregnancy was a beautiful, fruitful time for the kingdom though and it seemed the calf was a ray of sunshine to all persons, from royalty to peasantry.

One summer’s eve the queen’s lowing was heard bellowing throughout the lands wide as she struggled to birth the twin princesses far earlier than expected. In her last, heavy breath, her tear-stained eyes locked onto the wriggling birth, she uttered, “Oh, how lovely are my girls…” Her passing was most unfortunate and many royal families from the neighboring land came to offer condolences for such a loss. Fearful of their striking presentation shaming his reputation the king tucked the newborns away immediately, and those same neighboring kingdoms that had visited were informed the unseen calf was all but tragically lost too.

The king seemingly fell into a strange depression not understood well that caused him to shut away for great lengths of time. The princesses, most assuredly alive though in a delicate nature, were quietly held deep within the castle walls to be tended to by only the most dedicated and trustworthy nursemaids and maidens. In rare moments hushed voices whispered briefly of a secret hidden princess called Star.

What more does a girl want but to be admired and adored by all. Upon their sixteenth year they demanded the release of their restrictions within castle bounds. The king, who had not only grown to cherish them deeply but who had spoiled them in far excess, agreed with hesitation to allow them to roam the kingdom only during the daylight hours. It was then that they were suddenly seen most freely wandering about, and it was found that the twin princesses shared more than just blood lineage.

Upon their eighteenth birth year the princesses pressed to expand their experiences and to begin interactions with other royalty from neighboring lands. Reluctantly, their father submitted to their desires and provided them with a dedicated herald to travel to other lands and make accommodations for their travels. Readied to wage war with those who begin even minor social conflict over his precious darlings, the king busied himself with great physical preparations and became far more active outside of the castle bounds. The princesses, seemingly oblivious to their father’s concern and extensive protection, began to spend much of their time planning extravagant events and luxurious tours.

Entitled as princesses naturally are, the twins developed a bold confidence but also became overwhelmingly conceited at times. They certainly feared not to speak freely of their double minds. This dauntlessness contributed to their reputation for starting moral debate and causing social uproar across lands. Though with any bad there is good, and the questions they left others to ponder over helped to strengthen many kingdoms.

The king earned a new reputation of beheading those who spoke ill of his daughters. Through this particular encouragement of the king, those within the kingdom began to heavily dote on the princesses. Many villagers began kissing their royal hoovesteps as they claimed the princesses to be nothing less than living goddesses.
