Originally I wanted to be a technical artist, drawing the instructions for plastic model kits, but the plastic model Industry in CA dried up and blew away. I discovered 'Furry' fandom in 1987 and I've been drawing in that genre ever since. I enjoy mixing technical elements with fantasy characters, Furry or not. I also like to make my machines look like they'd work even if they have fantasy elements involved in them. I'm still learning how to create graphics on the computer, and I find the new media exciting and promising.

A nice "Sub-micro trip," and a fall in the garden. (G)

Yesterday I decided to take a "Sub-micro trip" into town just to see how Old Town Pasadena has been faring after the Holidays. A few things had changed, but my favorite haunts are still there and doing well. Now for ages I wanted to try a little shop that opened about three years ago called "Alfred." What drew my curiosity was their logo which is a capital "A" with deer antlers growing out the top. Upon my first visit I was impressed to see that the place is a coffee shop, in some respects rivaling the local Starbucks in setting, ambience and charm, plus I've been told the coffee is really good as evident from the crowds that visit there daily. I'm not a coffee drinker, but they do offer teas and carbonated caffeine laden drinks plus a variety of baked goods and hot sandwiches.
The folks are very nice, and the cashier happily answered my questions about the shop and told me the name "Alfred" is from Batman's dutiful Butler and assistant in the comics and other series featuring "The Caped Crusader. I did a bit of research later and found out the company's motto is "Grab life by the antlers." A nod to the coffee house chain's founders from the Pacific North-West. I finished up my adventures with stopping by the local Miniso USA only to discover that they've switched over to "Blind Box" collector's items, and then a brief stop at the local Tesla showroom to gawk at the Elon Musk Android standing in the window. (It's only a mannikin.) My next stop was at the local Paper Source to pick up some "Punchy-Pen Puppets" for Easter gifts for friends.
My return trip home was long and arduous as my legs were aching and it became more and more difficult for me to walk. I did make it to the local Ralph's and did a bit of grocery shopping, and then I made my way to the local bus stop. It took almost two hours for the bus to show up that would take me back to Schirm's place, but I made it home in time to watch the Artemis 2 launch and later on watch the Dodgers lose to the Guardians 4-1. I slept pretty soundly through most of the night until I was rattled awake by a small, 4.1 earthquake somewhere in the Santa Susana mountains.
The fun didn't stop then mind you. Later on in the morning I decided to throw some rotted meat into the canyon as an offering to the coyotes, and I guess I was still feeling the "Bite" of the baseball "Bug" as I thew the mass in the style of an amateur league pitcher and lost my balance and fell onto the driveway. Try as I could, I just couldn't get the leverage to pull myself up. I even attempted to get support on a nearby faucet and standpipe, but I was afraid of cracking it off at the stem and causing a fountain to erupt. Thank goodness Schirm was close by to hear my calls for help. He got me back on my feet and I found I was not severely injured.
I've started having serious consideration on investing in a walker because the varied terrain here at the "Estate" now presents some potential for injuries and dangers should I get any weaker. I might even have to consider the possibility of moving into a "Home" where I could be monitored more closely and I'd have folks there to help me at a moment's notice.
I wonder if there's a walker out there that features Bat Wings?
"Peace."
