So...I do some scribbles, both writing and art...once I scan them, I might put someof my sketchs up. I need to get back into the habit of writing. And when I get more creative, I'll work on this profile...heh.

PLEASE SIGNAL BOOST: Unprofessional school
10 years ago
At 10:20 am on 8/12/15, I received a phone call saying “Sorry for short notice, but your program has been canceled”…Program being the Veterinary Technician program I was enrolled in. It was short notice because classes were due to begin THAT NIGHT at 5pm.
Now, this was a special class, I was enrolled with one school (Wayne County Community College, WCCCD), but the classes are held at another (Wayne State University, WSU). I called WSU, who told me, yes, it was canceled, but to direct all comments and questions to WCCCD. WCCCD only said there was an “issue” and that the program has been canceled “indefinitely”. No idea what is going on, and any questions about “why” or “what’s next” were met with non-answers and apologizes.
The following day, another student had contacted one local news station, and they were able to find a little more out, but both schools involved are pointing the finger at each other. WCCCD says WSU ran the program, WSU says students should call WCCCD. WXYZ did find out there was a contract between the schools, and part of the contract was that “students enrolled in the program are to finish their degrees”, but WCCCD still canceled the program, including all first year classes.

I personally contacted another local news agency, and my story ran today. The reporter from channel 4 was given the same answers as the one from WXYZ.

Some of us students have networked on facebook, and are trying to figure out our next move. Since WSU has said many times there was a contract, and WCCCD broke it, and we all had to spent lots of money out of pocket over the summer on scrubs, entrance testing, and other supplies and now have no idea what is going on with financial aid this semester we were thinking of contacting a lawyer. I have contacted a legal aid office, as well as a law office that specializes in education cases. the law office asks for a $300 consultation fee. Since all of us students are out money we put in during the summer, we don’t have that money, even if we pool resources. So a GoFundMe was set up to pay for the consultation fee.

This is a large, confusing mess and the word needs to get out about this, to help us students and hopefully make WCCCD face some type of consequence for their unprofessional behavior when it comes to the students.
