Zack / agender + asexual (no gender, no sexuality, just vibes) / 28 yrs old / Canadian and I despise being one
All the characters in my gallery belong to me unless stated otherwise. Please don't use them in the public sphere or without my permission. That said, if you want to get me a gift, split a commission or just simply talk about characters, hit me up!
Please do not leave creepy, snide or rude comments. That sucks and I don't much care for it. Know the boundaries and have some common courtesy.
Hi. I'm Zack and I post character stuff here. Sometimes it's my own simple art, sometimes it's stuff I've commissioned, split orders with or even got as gifts by friends.
I don't know how best to describe myself. An embarrassment? An excuse to rebel against your parents? A desperate cry for help? The list is endless and all the options are disappointing. So let's focus on art and OCs, that's the focus here.
I like making characters too much and thus make too many of them (I'm at like 225 rn, send help). It's quite the double-edged sword, since I feel like I can't do them all justice, but no one said they had to really amount to anything more than character that make me happy, so I just do what I want with them. Flesh them out, write about them, draw them constantly, all that jazz.
I've been doing digital art since about 2015, but only really pushed hard on it since about 2023, which is when I made the mental turning point and began to really enjoy my art outcomes and the process to get there. It's also about the point where I realized I can consistently make banger designs, so hell yeah to that.
I tend to fly a little under the radar. As much as I like my OCs and appreciate my own art, I'm actually pretty self-conscious of sharing outside my own spaces, so I don't do a lot of networking and don't know a whole lot of other furries and artists on a social level. I'm also very scattershot with my creative ideas, so I don't really do long-term projects or anything like such. I also don't have the means to commission a lot of artists, so I stick to the same 3-4-ish ones when I get the opportunity. But I promise you, there's a lot to my OCs, you just have to nag and poke and ask me about them.
I really, genuinely appreciate the instances I've had where a character has resonated with someone though, it fills me with so much joy. Do constantly let me know if there's any OCs or art of mine that you really like or feel strongly about. It's validating, and more importantly, motivating.
You can find me on some other sites:
Discord, which is my main platform for online socializing and talking about my OCs: zackspades
Toyhouse: A repository for all my OC profiles and a second site for uploading art to: https://toyhou.se/zackspades
Bluesky, where I also post art and make silly short-form posts about my OCs, this is probably my main platform now tbh: threesecondsback.bsky.social
Piczel, where I occasionally stream some art: https://piczel.tv/watch/Zack_Spades
Current avatar done by myself.

Discord Harvesting IDs, Here's a Stoat Server (and Fluxer) (G)
Some news we've gotten this month, huh.
So quick recap on Discord:
Discord is not only hopping on the age verification thing that other platforms and even whole countries have been doing as part of big tech openly siding with the surveillance industrial complex, but in this instance is aligning itself with Persona, a vendor not only aligned with tech fascist, Epsteinian and all-around blight on humanity Peter Thiel, but also connected to ICE and Palantir, because we live in hell and no one seems to really care.
No doubt people are going to try to exploit this and get ahead of the curve. And I'm sure there will be all sorts of exploits if needed. Right now the trick is to spoof the internal system by going Settings -> Family Center -> Settings -> Date Of Birth, and I'm sure using the ol' reliable trick of vaguely realistic video game character mugshot might work for some, but quite frankly I don't really want to stick around on Discord in the long run, since it'll likely be the big testing ground for increasingly advanced identification models, and I already don't trust internal verification systems, let alone one with connections to the worst people and institutions currently alive. And unfortunately we live in a unipolar world where America's fascism has global reach. Hooray.
What Am I Doing?
Needless to say, I've been looking into non-US based alternatives. Now I'm under no illusions that I'm doing more than prolonging the inevitable given the way the world is going, and it's not like Europe doesn't also want to surveil and harvest our data (Hi EU Chat Control legislation, looking at you), but at this point I'll take anything not in the American tech hegemony.
And yeah, I get why that's hard. Platform ubiquity is a real thing, and it's especially harder with social platforms because well, they don't work without the social element . Yeah you can jump from a different food product or computer program if it's just for individual use, but getting away from social platforms, where whole communities (sometimes the only communities a person has) are built and established. Yeah, it's rough.
I will say, I am sympathetic to people trying to hold onto Discord despite everything. I have far more sympathy for them then I do for the people that have stubbornly clung to Twitter after all these years. I don't agree, per se, but I do sympathize.
And unfortunately, Discord alternatives are few and far between, for various reasons, and much of them are still years behind in development, so they're janky and easily overloaded with an influx of activity. That said, I'm on two of them at the moment, and will split my time between them. Maybe I'll stick with one if it outdevelops the other, but that's a long-term consideration.
What are the two platforms, and how to reach me on them:
So the two I've chosen are Stoat and Fluxer. Both are based in various European countries, both support NSFW content within their guidelines, and both have some pretty decent positive, as well as some negatives and some things that are very much growing pains.
Stoat
You might have known them beforehand as Revolt, but Stoat's a pretty neat platform. Already has somewhat of a userbase, and has a handful of discord premium features that are available for free (universal custom emojis)
That said, Stoat is super janky at the moment. Obviously Discord alternatives are nowhere near the size of Discord itself and that's reflected in the size of the dev team and their ability to add and patch certain features. Stoat at the moment doesn't have push notifs, full VC support and functionality, and has dips in performance and connectivity. Watching its website metrics, you can really tell its current infrastructure is quite strained, given it's had 10x its normal activity at times in the past two weeks.
That said, I set up a server on it. And I've gotten pretty far into setting it up (though I still need to upload more stuff onto it)
Fluxer
So I found out about Fluxer after setting up Stoat but this is also one with potential. Fluxer is super close to contemporary Discord in feel, while Stoat feels a few versions behind. It's still fairly buggy now, with servers strained and member lists not correctly populating, but again, I chalk that up to growing pains, especially since Fluxer hasn't really existed for much longer than this calendar year.
Biggest drawback I can think of at the moment is that Fluxer doesn't have a dedicated mobile app, but that's in the pipeline. And tbh, I've been partaking in boycott practices since I was a kid, putting up with lacking substitutes is far from a deal breaker for me.
Finding me on said platforms
Okay okay, if you're looking to follow me onto either platform, here are my handles, since they use the unique 4-digit tag system that Discord used to have
Fluxer: ZackSpades#8902
Stoat: ZackSpades#2913
Stoat Server Invite Code: BHT38tvz
Stoat Server Link (no idea if this works): https://stt.gg/M3mXjG00
Catch y'all on the platforms, should any of you decide to jump ship.
