Not a lot here to report. :) Just a magical bengal tiger living in Southern Ontario (formerly Louisiana!).
Very happily married to a wonderful man,
martinidog. Seriously. Dude's a dream. <3 Couldn't ask for anyone better.
Sorry I've been a little lax on the artwork side. I've got a few things I could post, but not much I've brought here. I've been using my Twitter for that, mostly. When I do have new stuff, I'll be sure to share.

Thoughts on Camp Feral 2016
Well, I'd either put it here or or on LJ but I figure more eyeballs would catch it here!
It's an interesting con. For anyone who's used to the typical con experience, as Matthew Ebel put it, "a coming together of nerds and geeks dressing up and getting drunk" (or something to that effect), Feral is/was decidedly different. The con is structured just so that people come together, hang out, do things together, and it's social. For an introvert like myself, it was a challenge. Lemme bullet point a few things:
Things I Liked:
Hanging with people I never met before (Meeting Tairu Panda, Dusty Pinhead, and Strype for the first time was a real treat)
One place for all meals - Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Late Night Snack (Generous amounts for all but the snack, typically)
Predator and Prey - Hunting down stamps for my card and trying to outrun ominvores, predators, fire, disease. I only ran away during the first half or so, after that I just said fuck it and gave people my 'life' beads. XD
Cabin Skits (Especially the ones Team Arowhon did. They were sexy and hilarious. XD) Several of us in the cabin were dreading this at first (including myself), but our cabin came together and had fun with it.
Cards Against Furmanity - We played this on two nights during the con.
Picturesque Views - If you've been on my Twitter, you've seen some of the beautiful landscapes I captured at the con. They're absolutely gorgeous.
Not Really Needing Bug Spray - Who knew? I had one or two bug bites all trip.
Mostly Clear/Cloudy Weather All Con - It drizzled one day, but that was as bad as it got. Beautiful weather otherwise.
$20 Ukulele! I bought one. :)
Things I Wasn't So Fond Of:
The heat, the humidity, and lack of AC. You're out in cabins in the woods. It can get muggy and miserable. I found I get really irritable and miserable if I can't cool down, and being in the cabins didn't help. This is actually a biggie causing me hesitation from going back. It's late Summer in Canada, so the days are like 80 degrees, but the nights may be 50-60. The cabins would get stuffy and hot during the day, so sleeping (in) was difficult. During the night, it would get chillier, but I might start sweating under my sleeping bag.
No Hot Water in Nearby Showers (Partway In) - They had some further away that worked, but this was a downer. Shaving was kinda problematic one afternoon too, because I sweat enough while doing it that I felt I needed another right then and there.
Flies Everywhere - Yeah, you can't really have the camp experience without these buggers, and I killed a ton during my trip, but they were annoying as heck, and quite numerous.
Wanting More Solo Based Activities - Most things required a buddy, or involving more than just you.
One outlet in the entire cabin - I assume this is true of most cabins, but the only outlet I could plug something into was near the door. Where I might want to aerate my head with my fan after suiting, I felt we needed it in the window just so the cabin wouldn't be stuffy.
Eating Time and Duration - If you came 45 or so minutes after food was set out, it was picked up, and you were left with a bowl of fruit, unless you brought something else. Make sure to bring plastic containers if you do, because mice sometimes scurry about the cabins, and open food is a huge no no. (As we found out with a slightly open box of Timbits...)
Granted, some of my criticisms were also because Feral isn't really a con where you can just relax and be passive at. Coming from a stressful job and wanting to just enjoy sleeping in, relaxing, spending time with friends casually... Feral asks you to be a bit more active. "Half of Feral is just showing up.", to paraphrase a quote I'm fond of. The bus there and back wasn't so bad, though we did end up getting back a bit late. The trek to the train station afterwards was a bit of a hike, especially with me, my two bags of luggage, and a backpack. Part of me wishes I could have done more activities, like I was really looking forward to doing leatherworking, but the person who chaired that took this year off. *snap*
I wish I could be more glowing about it, to say I wanna go back for sure next year. I have my hesitations, just based on my experience this year. It may be more to say it's not really my dish, which kinda upsets me, because I know others really enjoy it. At the very least, if I do go again, I'd probably want to bring a large extension cable and a box fan, to stem my biggest criticisms.
One final thought though - because the camp is so far out in the wilderness, it's hard to get any sort of internet connection. The downside of course is that it makes time seem to go much more slowly. The upside is that I came to understand the things that were really important. When you don't have zillions of people chattering all around you, or to react to, I find it's much easier to focus and quiet your thoughts. Being able to disconnect was actually kind of a nice reprieve.
So, TL;DR, my feelings about Feral are mixed. It's a very unique con experience among furry conventions, but the heat in the cabin was my biggest bother. At least I know now what to expect for next time.
