Character application for Zion http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5140764
Go check it out.
What's your character's name?
Tolen Lerum
What's your character's race?
Arctic Fox
What aspect of the Moon Goddess does your character most venerate?
Full Moon aspect of the Moon Goddess
In what city was your character born?
Tolen was originally born and raised in Bannihar, the City of the Cloudless Day.
In what city does your character live?
Tolen currently lives in Shrad, City of the Darkened Sky.
If your character does not live in his/her birth city, why not?
Tolen moved away from Bannihar to Shrad mainly to help the people who are less fortunate, at least that is what he tells himself. The real reason is because of his father and the antithesis of his career choice in connection with the social standings within Bannihar. Sick and tired of his father's verbal displeasure with what he chose and the military dominate with carnivores, he left at the age of 19 to Shrad in hopes of more acceptance.
What's your character's sex/gender?
Tolen is Male, although he has some female qualities about his body and usually, one cannot tell if he is a male until about 10 meters away.
What's your character's occupation?
He is mainly a Healer and a sufficient Alchemist
What's your character's greatest success thus far?
He considers the knowledge he has built up on healing perhaps one of his greatest successes so far in life, other than that, he is still somewhat young and has much to do.
What's your character's greatest failure thus far?
His greatest failure is the failure to prove himself worthy to his father and his family, a still ongoing failure that he considers with great guilt.
What's your character's sexual preference?
Homosexual and periodically ogles at muscular properties of males discreetly.
What does your character think of his/her life?
It is livable, but that is it. Due to the constant berating from his father on nearly everything he does in his childhood, he normally associates everything he accomplishes as one of his failures. Basically, his self-esteem has been beaten down from the start of his life and continues to plague him now.
What does your character have worth living for?
Basically, for a better tomorrow, perhaps for one day to prove himself worthy to his father and to himself that he is not a failure, or perhaps someone to love and be with.
What would be an ideal and/or meaningful death for your character?
A selfless sacrifice in which gives another person more opportunity than he will ever get, or a heroic death which would possibly reach his father's ear.
What's one interesting quirk about your character?
He is an extreme perfectionist, almost can be considered as an OCD of his. The high expectations from his father have caused him to grow up learning that everything should be done correctly and right the first time for any chance of approval from the person he respected the most. Although this is rather ironic because he always considers every action of his as "could have been done better" or as another one of his constantly growing failures.
Physical description:
Self-conscious of his relatively short height of 5'5" and his female stature, Tolen, now at the age of 25, tends to avoid conservations pertaining to his looks. "As white and soft as the freshly fallen snow," is what his mother described his fur at one time, but he considers his fur as the most plain and non-unique thing on his body. He has eyes which look entirely black from far away, but from a closer inspection, is actually a very dark blue which blends quite well with his black iris. He usually wears long white robes to compliment his fur or something light where he can move easily in. He usually wears the robes to conceal the fact that he is not very muscular as he would like; being a bookworm has several clear disadvantages.
Brief overview of his character:
Born in Bannihar to a mother and a haughty soldier of a father, he has been constantly verbally abused by his father because of his high interests in books and not in the military. He looked up to his father and craved his rare approval but never ventured away from the text filled pages and the intricate mana world. By doing so, he has caused himself to be viewed as a weakling and dishonorable by his father. He later leaves Bannihar at the age of 19, tired of his father's discontent and the jeers of the carnivore dominate military, he heads to Shrad in hopes of acceptance. He is now living in Shrad, more comfortable to the cold than most other species; he offers healings and potions to others in exchange of favors. He is rather closed off to other people and refuses to share his life story or his current problems to anyone but his closest friends. After all, they are his and only his problems right? No need to make anyone else worry for no reason. Although he has closed off most of his inner being, that does not stop him from making friends to crack jokes or to help. He usually considers himself as not important and puts other's pains and problems ahead of himself, often risking his health and livelihood to ease others. He is usually pessimistic depending on his mood and optimistic when he is hopeful. He doesn't like to inflict pain on others and will basically consider anything he was involved in that failed to be his fault. He constantly looks for ways to please his father, even though miles away, he still influences his every action. One reason for which he would become involved in a trip to Zion is of course to prove himself worthy to his father, but he could also be on a look out for a good life.

His fault appears to be somewhat of a Deathwish not in the sense that he wants to die a glorified death, but in a sense of his actions itself. He always considers himself as not very important or essential, a product of his childhood and his father. He usually would help others first than himself and most people would perceive this action as a means for self sacrifice.
Tolen can be considered Cloistered. Not in the sense of blindness to death or massive suffering, he has encountered this many times as a healer; but rather in denial of corruption and the evil people contain. He generally believes that everyone is inherently good and looks for any reason that is more logical than "he's just evil" to justify their actions. He is blind to true evil, to the reasons why people would actually cause mass suffering, and he wishes to avoid every verdict until the proof is right under his muzzle. And he has yet to experience this cruelty himself.
