re: making things
NOTE: An edit now appears at the bottom.
NOTE: And another one.

If you and I talk with any frequency, you've probably heard me expressing regret over the fact that I rarely demonstrate the discipline or build up the motivation to create things (writing stories, learning to draw better, taking on little programming projects, etc.). Every so often I'll come up with a new scheme to improve my consistency with creative efforts, but generally I'll lapse and abandon it pretty quickly.
This journal just represents another attempt to fix that problem (because I do see it as a problem) from a different angle. Usually I keep those intentions to myself, but this one involves you, hence the journal about it. Since two of the things that seem to help break through my indolence are deadlines and accountability, this scheme is an attempt to inject some of those things into my creative process.
Here's how it works.
- You leave a comment describing something you'd like to see me create, e.g. you describe a concept for a story you'd want to see written, however vague or detailed it happens to be (or send a note about it if you prefer, I guess).
- Over the next week, I try to produce one of the things suggested by somebody (or more than one, depending on scope).
- If it seems to work for me, I keep doing it.
There's a few caveats.
- Around here, I'm a pretty vore-centric person. My selection of concepts will be similarly vore-centric. The more relevant to my interests a concept is, the more likely I am to pick it up.
- I have to fit it into spare time during the week, so anything too large/ambitious for that time window probably won't get picked up.
- Since I'm using this audience to create the feeling of accountability, things created this way will be posted here, so don't suggest anything that you'd then want kept private. (Anonymity of the requestor is fine.)
- I'm not going to get to every idea or to every person; some people's suggestions might get picked multiple times while others' don't at all; that is just how it is.
I can't promise results, or how long I'll continue doing it, but I'm cautiously optimistic that maybe this can help me work on the things that prevent me from making things.
Thanks for reading and considering!

Edit:
I'm actually going to be a few days late on making this one, for three reasons. The first is that some procrastination was involved (a bad habit that will be part of what I'm working on fixing here). The second is that I selected an idea and created an outline that requires much more story than is really reasonable for this timespan - another problem that I have had before that I am going to have to be more intentional about in the future. And lastly, I've been having some sleep and headache trouble the last few days, which has not left me in a condition to be writing. So I will try to instead have this one out at the latest by this weekend, and we will go from there.
Edit 2:
It's still coming, but my underestimation skills remain unmatched. I guess we'll see when I manage to finish it.
NOTE: And another one.
