I live (mildly adult topics within) (G)
8 years since last journal? Let's fix that.
A lot has changed since then. Heck, I may have still been living with my parents at that time. As of now, I have, rather unfortunately, gained another... 6 years(?) of fast food experience, for a total of about 8. I tried working at a location in the more suburban area I live in now, and that proved to be incredibly stressful, due to combined factors of being new to the area and just the location being so busy compared to my past experience, among other factors. I have also more officially began my mental health journey, now being on medication. They want me to get a psych eval done, but I mean... money. I'll get to it when I get to it.
I also decided to start learning Russian as a result of encountering multiple creations by Russian/Russian-speaking content creators on the internet, including musicians Sayonara Maxwell, Miatriss, and Paul Udarov, as well as artists Ripli and Oksara here on FA. On top of that, I've started learning the electric bass.
And finally, one more development: after having spent many hours searching and researching the matter, I have come to the conclusion that the furry fandom, by and large, tends to be over-indulgent of pornographic content. No, there is nothing wrong with viewing porn, but too much of anything is never good. Moreover, I'd say it'd be difficult to blame such a community that where my age (currently 29) is moving closer to the upper end than the lower end of the entire fandom. This combined with (although I admit the following remark is more anecdotal) how I've noticed many furries tend to come from bad family backgrounds, ie parents being intolerant of any sexuality outside of hetero, or trans individuals. So, taking this, having to conceal who they are and how they feel, and then suddenly finding themselves in a community that approves of them for who they are, and well... cork, champagne bottle.
That said, it is often said if you want to change the world, you should start by changing yourself, and I'm far from an exception to the very problem I describe. So, I've taken it upon myself to try to change that, and I think I'm already seeing some benefits. Again, I don't think porn is inherently bad, but my research has shown that over-indulgence appears to be correlated to a lot of negative effects, and that information combined with the amount of porn indulgence reflected in the furry surveys that have been done for years now shows an unhealthy pattern of overuse (though of course far more often in men than women furries, big surprise, lol).
I hope everyone's lives have been treating them well, mine has been a very slow and steady improvement that I still struggle to find the patience for sometimes. Best wishes.
