As I've mentioned in a couple of my previous journals, I've been depressed these last few years. A few months ago, however, I started pulling myself out of this depression thanks to some help from a friend.

As I started feeling better, I've felt an increasingly strong urge to take some time to step up my art game. Though it may not seem like it, I'm not as good at drawing as I look. Like many other artists, I skipped practising my art fundamentals and went right for the fun stuff. As a consequence, I often have to rely on luck and brute force to get things looking how I want. The best way to demonstrate this is in the sketch phase of this timelapse where you can see me sort of carving the forms I want out of a chickenscratchy sketch. With some of my recent works, I could feel myself hitting the limit of what I can do with this brute forcing method, so I see no other choice: I have to work on my fundamentals.

I'm not sure how long I'll be away as I work on this, but hopefully it will be worth the wait.
