Oh yeah, journals... (G)

I guess I could throw some text in here, just for fun? At any rate, I attended Anthrohio last weekend. It was interesting, though I couldn't help but view it through the prism of the dozens of anime conventions I've been to.
It was much smaller, for one. That's nice in some ways, because it means everyone is much more friendly, and with everything in one hotel there's not too much scurrying around. Everyone seemed quite happy to hear it was my first con, and the artists in particular were ready to talk my ear off, which is the opposite of anime conventions, where the best artists usually have a line.
Downside to a small con, especially when you're there by yourself and know absolutely no-one there, is that there wasn't really a lot to do. Programming was sparse, which made sense when I saw there were only a couple hundred people there, but it led to lots of downtime and sitting in my room being bored. Had I had people to hand out with, certainly it might have been different, but that was a bit disappointing.
I'd like to do another con. This year's schedule is pretty well packed, but perhaps next year? Though there is the one in Indianapolis. I'll have to see if my budget and work schedule can support it.
