Update on my housing situation (G)
Hello everybody, its been awhile since I last posted a journal, and a lot of events have transpired in that time. I wanted to write down everything that happened both to try and make sense of it myself, and give all of you some insight into the craziness that is my life.
Over the course of one week, my family and I were essentially uprooted from our house and forced to find a new home. It started when our landlords ordered some regular maintenance on the house we were renting, repairing the roof which had been damaged by wind. The contractor they hired was a man named Joe, who showed up late with unlicensed laborers, and before they could finish work on the roof a massive storm blew in. They abandoned the roof and my family was forced to deal with water pouring into the house, relocating our clothes and furniture, with light fixtures and floors damaged by water. Oh, and the roofers also destroyed our umbrella, broke my parents bedroom window and left debris scattered all over the lawn. This was on Tuesday, so over the next few days relations between my parents and our landlords disintegrated, as they reneged on their promises to pay for my family to be in a hotel as they repaired and renovated our house. Basically, our house was massively water damaged, and they told us to leave while they fixed it, leaving all of our stuff in a home being torn apart and renovated. Instead, my father performed the herculean task of finding us a new house within only a few days, convincing the property manager of a nearby house about a block away to let us rent it. This lead to a concentrated effort from my father, myself, and several of his coworkers to move everything we own to this new location within only a few days. It was...grueling, and the entire ordeal has been incredibly taxing on both my parents, both financially and emotionally. On top of that, my father is currently pursuing legal action against the landlords and Joe the contractor, so that is a volatile situation still developing at the time of writing.
The good news is that we're successfully moved into the new address, its a beautiful home in a lovely neighborhood, so we are all stable and doing okay now. To be honest, my head is still spinning from everything that happened, it was physically and mentally draining on myself and my folks. Without the generosity and loyalty of my fathers employees, we never could have accomplished the move as fast as we did. So, for right now, we'll just have to see how things go. I'm happy for it to be over with mostly, I want to sincerely thank my friend Damien for supporting me throughout the ordeal, I would've snapped if it weren't for him keeping me sane.
Anyways, that's it in terms of progress reports from me, I'm going to be doing my best to post more and be more active both here on FA and all other sites I'm on. Thank you to everybody who's hung around with me this long, I know I tend to lurk and maintain radio silence a lot, but I am still here and I still appreciate everything this community has done for me. :)
