No More Soft Landings (G)

I’m still enrolled in college and going to state university after this semester, chasing a bachelor’s degree. Last semester: four A’s, three B’s. 20 credit hours in the summer. I’m medicated with antidepressants, courtesy of the military and my veteran service. I might be homeless next year, though, I am used to that already.

Even while sometimes homeless I am finishing my degree and joining an ironworker union. I want to complete a journeyman card. Then, maybe work a nuclear plant for sometime or skip and go straight to NASA.

Trump’s America doesn’t want people like me. Veterans, homeless, queer, mentally ill, furry. I check every box. The meds I rely on? Under scrutiny. The NASA job I dreamed of? Slashed of 1,200 senior positions gone. Veterans benefits and medical assistance? Stolen. I’m not collateral damage. I’m the target as well as other individuals. I exist at the intersection of every group being targeted in this political climate.
