Moving into the New Year I'm going to be making some adjustments on how I approach my art, in short I'll be shifting toward more of an inward focus. Developing my own characters/settings and keeping things much more aligned with my own personal interests as opposed to being more focused on drawing stuff for others. I had fallen into a habit of often drawing things for mutuals, especially as birthday gifts, which is nice in a sense but it left me in a situation where I had an endless queue of projects for others while leaving my own characters and settings largely underdeveloped. I also feel that by overly focusing on the interests/characters of others my own art gallery has less of an identity of its own, that is something that I'd like to go about changing.

Don't get me wrong, I will still draw some stuff for others, it'll just be less common than how things are now. I also feel that this sort of a shift will be necessary if I am to work on larger projects (comics, short animations, indie games, etc.). I actually drew some comics and got my feet wet with some animation stuff earlier this year, which is something that I'm really proud of and which I'd like to do more often. But those projects can also be some pretty big time sinks and given that I work full time I have limited time/energy for art. I need to change what sorts of projects I'm focusing on if I ever want to develop my own settings.

I also feel that I'm less likely to experiment around with gifts, instead sticking to tried and true methods in order to keep consistency, but a bit of experimentation and occasional failure is necessary for growing as an artist. My art has improved a lot over the past four years, but to push on further I need to approach things differently ^^.

I still have a queue of projects to be working my way through, I'm not gonna fully drop those or anything, just gonna be more selective about when I decide to add something new to it. So if I've promised you something and you're on my list then I'll still get to it when I can ^^. (Admittedly this is another reason why I'm making this change, for the past year or so I've been in a constant state of taking on more projects than I have the free time handle, so I need to get this whole thing better under control XD)
