So I also make tails. Well, okay. I don't make the tails themselves. They're reclaimed from the fur industry; when a pelt is made into a coat/etc, the legs, face, and tail generally aren't used and may be discarded. So I work with wholesalers that reclaim them. (Better to use what's already there than to let it go to waste!)
I'm particular about the attachments, too. I never just leave you with a ball chain that’s going to tear through or a cheap clamp-on key chain that may rust. Everything’s hand-sewn by yours truly; I make the belt loops from secondhand (but good quality) leather, and the high-quality steel carabiners are set into leather sewn onto the end of the tail for additional strength. (All the sewing gives me a little extra time to spend with each tail’s spirit, too!)
Anyway, the pics above are just a few of the many tails I just uploaded to http://thegreenwolf.etsy.com . If you have any questions beyond what I describe in each tail's listing, please feel free to let me know :)
As with all my dead critter art, the majority of supplies are recycled or otherwise reclaimed, and you're welcome to ask me about the origins of any of them. I do not hunt or otherwise kill animals myself, and I try to be a very eco-friendly artist. Everything I make gets a full ritual purification as part of my (neo)shamanic practice. And while as a self-employed artist and author I have to use most of the money I make for bills and such, I do donate a portion to nonprofit groups that benefit wildlife and their habitats, a practice I've done since I started my art in the mid-1990s.

I really love how you attach the hoops and the leather. Really pro. I assume you've got to use professional leather needles or what have you (I tried to sew a bit of leather a while ago and it was IMPOSSIBRU to push the needle through, but that was just a normal sewing one)
I adore the deer tail. I'm seeing more and more of these lately.
So glad you joined FA and I found you, I just love looking at people work and collections with taxidermy :3
