
Samantha loves to bake, despite the many and varied warnings she has received from the fire department. She really should have known the cookies didn't come out as perfect as they seemed.
This was done in some three hours on the last day of a Winter Holiday story Contest that was held at The Lab. In case you missed it, like some of the folks that have read the story, the trigger is the cookies. She bought GENDERbread mix instead of GINGERbread mix. I still giggle at that.
It took me until today to figure out a decent enough title to the thing :p

I have this mental picture of the mail carrier pulling a hip flask out of his pocket and throwing it in the trash before raising his right hand and taking the oath right then and there . . . like some cat swearing off cat-nip in an old cartoon . . .
And that opening line is an excellent addition to my "lines-I-wish-I'd-thought-of" collection . . .
