A bit of a rarity even when this photo was taken, BNSF GP30u 2403 idles in the yard with BNSF 2982 and BNSF 2316.
This was taken back when I was still using a film camera, so, the quality is not as good as some of my other photos.
BNSF 2403 was ATSF 1203, 2703 before it became part of BNSF.

*nods* I was using an old point and shoot camera from the 1990s at the time, and the lighting was not that great, so, it didn't turn out quite as well as I would have liked.
I'm still glad to have a picture of one of these though. :)
It was nice to see a GP30 style locomotive in every paint scheme BNSF had for a while.

Wow, an unmolested GP30 that still has its original 567D3A engine...there can't be any of those on Class Is anymore by now...Conrad Yelvington's got one that came from the B&O! http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/sh.....spx?id=3308917
Ah, I know. The yard here is always a good place to find rare power typically.
Though, with most of BNSF's older locomotives starting to be retired now.... it is becoming hard to find things like this.
I know all of these are retired or are in storage now. Sitting in dead lines or ready to go if needed lines.
That's an interesting GP-30 that Conrad Yelvington has.
I have never seen one of them with a cage cab.

Nice.
Well, they don't use those around here, but, I can confirm through this youtube video that they are still in use for remote operations in some yards. :)
