The look on Frost's face in the left-middle panel is fantastic. I think you really captured the moment for him, there.
Also, I kind of like the implication (if I'm inferring things right) that Ciel's entire love life basically boils down to him pretty much having to string people along just long enough to sleep with them and then move on. Which is kind of a tragic plight in its own right, even if his M.O. may be morally questionable. It's an interesting conundrum and a fascinating bit of storytelling.

Well, as a writer myself, I try to really think about character motivations, and you've put together such an interesting situation here with your mythology that I can't help but look at it from multiple angles!
A lot of people seem to feel really bad for Frost, here (and rightly so), but I don't think I'd say he's the only victim to circumstance, here. Ciel clearly doesn't enjoy this lot he has in life, where he's trapped between the really lousy choice of hurting people or going without intimacy entirely, and if I were him I can't say I wouldn't make the same choice.
(Plus, I mean, the poor guy doesn't know what it's like to be with someone who really knows how to do a fantastic job in the bedroom! That's a curse enough right there!)

That's stupid. You're entirely overlooking the fact that this is his nature. He is a Unicorn. Put yourself in those shoes, your very BEING says that only virgins can see you. You can have a relationship but never do what you feel is last base without losing somebody, all you know is that it is -supposed- to happen. The fact remains that Ciel dated him for two months, he squeezed out every drop of genuine love that he felt he deserved. Maybe he is thinking he had to do it, because Frost does not deserve to be with somebody who can not love him like another person can.
You're too focused on the parting moment, the "final offense." when it's a tiny part of the whole equation. It's a beautiful tragic moment and a powerful storytelling tool that has been used for countless years. The "bad guy" is sometimes the biggest victim. There will be a lot of literature you can not appreciate if you don't understand that.

it was 2 months! If he was choosing his dick over Frost, it would have happened a lot faster. Ciel obviously enjoys the company more than the sex. Sometimes when you love somebody, you're not going to say no. When it's your nature to disappear as well,a s sad as it is, it's best not to loophole around it.
I think Ciel still can communicate with frost.
Ciel's perception filter ability doesn't erase the memories Frost has, and I think Ciel could write messages for Frost because in the moment he leaves the message it has nothing to do with him anymore, it's just a piece of paper with some writing on it, so it doesn't get filtered by Frost's mind.
And I think this was a completely useless comment...

If the unicorn knows this is going to happen, why doesn't he just limit himself to sex acts that don't involve intercourse? Or tell his partner so they can make that choice for themselves? That seems a very simple thing, unless he's a gigantic douche who likes endless one-night stands and no commitments.

A little hard to say "Why doesn't he just do this?" It's a logical thought for you but it ignores emotion. This is two months later, plenty of time for things like this to happen and all along, he knows in the back of his head that he is destined to disappear. He's loved before. It's hurt before. He might have even had a "first love" before receiving the Birds and Bees and Unicorns talk, I don't know. I'm sure it's lead to plenty of pain for Ciel as well.

Question, I thought (maybe its just me) that loss of virginity was right at penetration. So shouldn't he have disappeared right when he entered him? Kind of like how a girl's virginity is posed as an intact hymen until broken. (though there are varying opinions). Just curious.
I think this depends on how you define virginity. In this case it has more to do with innocence and the experience, not the physical technicalities of it. Everyone's got a different idea of what 'counts' as losing your virginity too (like some people seem to think that anal or oral don't count, whereas in Ciel's case it obviously does). Some people are pretty cut and dry about the whole thing but personally I don't see virginity as represented by the state of your hymen or what-have-you.

Demi! Shame on you! You surpass yourself in storytelling all the time! I loved grayscale's plot, but this is a whole new thing! It's something brand new, ya know? Grayscale was slow, we saw Nine's struggle in the cell and how he tried to keep himself sane and not end up like Pai and Dice's struggle on what he thought was wrong or right!
This one is surprisingly fast O-o. I want to saw 'Poof' gone and it's almost like that! I amazed at how well you can execute such difference in plot development. My assumption is that Ciel doesn't tell his lovers because, if he did, no one would ever agree to it. One-time-only intimacy is essentially the only option Ciel has, and I get the impression that he feels stuck taking what he can get without wanting to screw it up.

I'm thinking about the characters involved and the name of the comic now, wondering if this is going to be a Love story between Cinder and Frost, who both had a run in with Ciel if if there will be an effort to save Ciel from his tortured existence. I kind of hope that for tragedy's sake that Ciel continues to be Ciel.

ok i'd like to point out two things that went thou my mind after reading up to this point.
1. does this mean the unicorn's manager at the coffee shop is a virgin too? if not how the heck does he get a pay check.
2. if only virgins can see him does that mean that everyone who isn't a virgin but witnesses him interacting with something only can see stuff floating around in mid-air (ex. the broom and dust-pan that sweep up the broken coffee cup)
not major things but still kinda funny to think about ^-^ hehehe

I can answer both pretty easily: 1. he doesn't work at the coffee shop, he's just a patron whom no one notices - pours himself coffee, helps himself to their broom and dustpan when someone makes a mess etc.
2. It's a glamour that alters a person's perception - he's not invisible but the glamour means that people's eyes just slide off him and their minds filter him (and anything he affects in a way that can't be explained, like floating dustpans) out. Unfortunately Frost didn't fall into that category because plenty of people will dismiss a man talking to himself as a crazy person, so the glamour doesn't make Frost invisible to their perceptions too.

Ok so at the risk of voicing an unpopular opinion...the unicorn's a dick. If this was the first time it happened I might feel sympathy for him but he's been down this road plenty of times before. It seems like he's the nice guy who tragically disappears when he and his partner get it on but it seems like now he's just leaving a trail of broken hearts with no real regard for how the other parties will feel until it's too late. Essentially he's living the dream of any guy who wants to just get laid and then vanish afterwards.

Those things can walk into any place they want and rape anything without any repercussions. Also, would there be like- organizations trying to preserve the species or something? Like registering every single unicorn that is born, or assigning a meeting place for them, or at the very least some sort of website? I didn't read all of the comments, so this may have been theorized or discussed already, and I know that Ciel isn't that big of a character, but I was randomly thinking about this comic a few days ago and thinking that it was odd that Ciel would talk to Frost for months, then have sex with him without telling him what would happen. Now, he could have just wanted sex and doesn't really care about losing contact with Frost, but this odd theory came to me after a while of thinking about it ( I think about things a lot, okay? ). I considered posting it on the last page, but chickened out ( I'm a wuss, what can I say ). ^^;
The idea was that maybe Ciel actually does care about Frost ( and maybe others as well ) and that he did this to control when he would see him last. If he didn't do this and let Frost go off with someone else, he wouldn't know for sure when Frost would lose his virginity and never be able to see him again. I'm sure that's a scary thought, especially if you like someone ( friend or otherwise ). So in order to prepare himself for when he'd be able to talk to Frost last, he had to be the one to sleep with him first and the couple of months they spent together was the time Ciel got to spend with him ( and why it wasn't exactly just a one night stand ). He couldn't tell Frost, because that could mess everything up. Ciel needed to be in control of it to make it work 'properly'.
Not saying that it was okay for him to do that. In fact, it's quite the opposite, but I can see that being a possibility for Ciel, because it gives him more control over his friendships and whatnot. You'd be surprised at how accurate your description of Ciel's mentality is. I wouldn't call it control, though perhaps it is a bit of that. I definitely think that the duration of time he spends and when he ends it has a lot to do with how much pain he can tolerate. Short, bright, happy relationships with a sudden end seem far preferable (and, for him, the only option) to something long and fulfilling only to lose someone after putting so much time and love and effort into the relationship.
*nods* Yeah, control might not be quite the word I wanted. Perhaps security? Losing people he's close to has got to be rough, so I thought perhaps he handles it in this way to help cope.

All I could say for that is that sometimes a person can't/won't understand what's told them and have to face it my means of force-feeding the hard way, by example or demonstration.
Ciel prolly told the others in the past this but likely got a similar explanation akin to "This will be different, I know you exist so I'll see you--", or some such rationale.

Step three : Bad Luck Brian, as a virgin, sees Ciel** and repeats everthing he says to Frost, allowing a form of communication between those two.
Step four : Bad Luck Brian is in the middle of a couple, but single, staying a very Bad Luck Brian. The universe doesn't collapse*.
*I first wanted to use Forever Alone Guy, as this one is garanteed 100% virgin, but he would actually spend time with people (Ciel and Frost), breaking all rules of physics and dividing by zero. So yeah, Bad Luck Brian works just fine.

That unicorn is a total douchewad. If he knew, why have sex with with Frost? Unless he wanted to break it off with him, and if thats the case hes a giant a-hole. The story was cute, until this point, now i kind of hate the unicorn, and Frost seems naive for not being mad at him too.
Pffh, WHAT? XD This white horse dude is the biggest douche I've ever seen. He is together with him for two months and they grow to love each other, then he just says "Oh, I can't see you anymore!" and then poofs away... without ever talking to him about this. People have committed suicide for less depressing shit in their life.
And, skipping over two months of them learning about each other, and we thereby know nothing about how and why they love each other nor how they are as persons?

Buddy. Pal. Friend. Calling someone's writing atrocious ain't critique, it's cruel. Critique doesn't give you carte blanche to be straight up nasty, yeah? You want to pretend that your comment was intended to help my growth as a writer? All my good criticism came in at the end. Ya know, where people had read the whole thing and could make an informed critique.

Well, you're showcasing the story in a way of trying to get us emotionally invested, then you basically say "fuck you" to the audience. Could I have been doing a better job with the comment I left? Sure. But it makes no sense to me to show two characters dating for two months without it ever once coming up in discussion what will happen if they have sex. I mean, this is the most cruel thing you could do to a person when you are fully aware of what will happen.
Ciel's duplicity is intentional. He's a very nasty character and his sweet/innocent appearance is a deliberate juxtaposition of his true nature. I wasn't trying to make anyone emotionally invested in Ciel and Frost as a couple, which is why i don't show their relationship developing and skip straight from their first meeting to the moment he vanished. I'm just establishing Frost's history as exposition which leads to the main events of the story. Though it is implied from this scene alone that Ciel isn't that great a guy, it's doubly confirmed later. I want the reader to mistrust or hate him.

... well, okay then. I guess then that's a fair point. I don't know, I guess I'm just emotionally unstable and frustrated over things, and I accidently took it out on your comic... I'm sorry. I was talking to someone about wanting more gay inclusion in fiction, and he referred me to your comic. Doesn't excuse me for acting like a douche, just saying I've been a grump about these things for a while...
Thanks for apologizing, and sorry you're having a hard time. I promise you there is a gay 'happy ending' in this story. It's just not a love story between Ciel and Frost in the end :P

I really do hope more story developers willing to include gay stuff can get to work on movies and TV shows and such stuff in the future. Especially animated movies. Drives me crazy there is no gay inclusion in literally any fiction that interests me. XP It's a bitter feeling, that's for sure.
