Well, as much as I like the whole mane thing, it's rather restricting, in a way...
Since I just recently gut a COMPLETELY new haircut, I decided to do a quick sketch of possible new hairstyles for Kai.

That's kinda what I figured. x3
It's just that I usually end up drawing a lot of detail on clothes / things in the neck area and then end up covering it up with the mane. xD
Also, a lot of times, people occasionally get intimidated when it comes to drawing the mane, for wherever reason. (Others, like myself, really like it though.)

That's my issue... xD
I love the classic look, but like I've said previously, a lot of times people don't want to draw the mane. ><
If anything, I'll probably just end up making #2 an "alternative" for those people.

But fox tails are fun to draw, and manes are confusing for some people. x3
I always get the response: "I've never drawn a LION before! O-o"
And then they end up drawing the lion COMPLETELY different than, say, the panther they drew moments before. >>
Then if they try to draw a lion character without the mane it looks great and actually like a feline, instead of a bear-cat-wolf-type-thing.
