With my paw against the glass I can feel the ship rumble; the engines roar silently through the deepest reaches of this infinite black, taking wanderers such as I to new depths.

No sirens alert me, no comm chatter to warn me, not even a calm before the storm; the ship collides with an asteroid and the hull is torn wide, and I'm thrown against the cold steel floor, the lights die and the ship stops entirely, the glass begins to crack and I can feel the cold abyss leaking in through the metal rifts.

I almost accept what happens next, willingly as the metal whines and breaks in two, I'm pulled out into that glorious emptiness; the sounds outside of my hood muffle and soon vanish as I find myself drifting now, faster and faster from my vessel, the sky is everywhere and my ship becoming nothing more than a wrecked blur on this cosmic horizon.

You would mistake me for dead; but so would many. This welcoming void is more than you know, it's cold because it's lonely, but now I'm here; I won't let it be alone any more.
