All right, a new song for 2008. Good way to start out the year, especially since I have several other new songs bubbling away...

This one started with the acoustic bass riff, then quickly got the drum loop and then the non-looped drums to match. The organ followed pretty quickly too. Then it sat and languished for a number of months as an 8-bar loop. I knew I needed chord changes or it would go nowhere.

When I finally got the idea to make it a 16-bar blues riff, progress was quick. Knocked out the chord change framework, added the intro, ending and bridge... then the sax lead. The flute for the bridge was an inspiration, and having it come back at the end was a good touch, I think.

Done using Propellerhead's Reason 2.5. Great piece of software. I was going to make the thumbnail image the picture of my virtual rack... alas, what I wanted to put in was a little too big. I'll see what I can do and maybe add it later.
