Another long-ass explanation for a pair of simple designs...ready? GO!
As you may or may not know, the "Ben-10: Alien Force" we got was NOT the one Man of Action pitched to Cartoon Network; their idea centered around an Omnitrix malfunction giving random kids the powers and forms of Ben's aliens, requiring him, Gwen, and Max to train them. CN didn't like the idea, probably because of the decreased focus on Ben himself, and instead tapped Glen Murakami and Dwayne McDuffie, then fresh off "Teen Titans" and "Justice League Unlimited" respectively, to retool the show into what we saw. The sole remnants of the original idea were the Plumber's Helpers, the half-alien kids who showed up a couple of times, and the name of the show itself (in case you were wondering why the show was CALLED "Alien Force" when there was no force of aliens to be found).
Jump ahead to a couple years ago when My son and I grabbed the recolored versions of Ultimate EchoEcho and Rath from the "Haywire" subline of the "Ultimate Alien" action figures. Following my Transformers tradition of turning recolors into OCs, we dubbed them "DeeJay" and "Rayj" respectively and started trying to come up with their story. Since I had already acquired an eclectic bunch of figures from the rest of the toylines, plus we both were more fans of the original show than the two follow-ups, we started riffing off of the original "Alien Force" concept instead, originally intending DeeJay and Rayj to be like the other involuntary hybrids. It kinda got shuffled aside after a while, though, since we couldn't figure how an Ultimate EchoEcho would exist outside of Ben himself (of course, it turns out there IS an independent Ultimate EchoEcho out there, but that's for another time), as well as why would Max allow a bunch of ten-year-olds fight evil? He was kinda forced into it with Ben himself, but a whole TEAM of them..?
After the "Ben-10: Omniverse" episode "Outbreak" aired, though, I got a germ of an idea; swiping a bit from Bud Root's "Cavewoman" series, the idea became that, in one of the many parallel worlds canon to Ben-10 at some point between the end of the original series and the flashback period from "Omniverse," the city of Bellwood (and surrounding territories) was somehow ripped from the planet and stranded within the Null-Void, at the same time the Omnitrix overloaded and grafted the powers of Ben's then-unlocked aliens onto several of his classmates. Without any other means of protecting the people from, well, the worst criminals in the universe, including several of his own personal enemies, Ben would end up recruiting these new hybrid kids to help him, training them as best as he can with Gwen's help (and possibly Max's...this idea is as rough and bare-bones as they come ATM, so I'm still undecided if he's with them in the Null-Void or working to return the city to Earth outside it).
Thus we have "Ben-10: Omni-Force."
...OK, so...it still needs work.
Anyway, since somehow my buddy Roequ and I started talking about "Ben-10" last night, I got inspired to draw up a couple of the "Omni-Force" kids. On the right is the 10-year-old "Omni-Force" version of "Alien Force" character Helen Wheels, and on the left is a new OC named Krista Lynn (continuing the horrible pun naming tradition). As I JUST made Krista a couple hours ago, I still don't know much about her yet, and I know in AF Helen was a natural-born half-breed, but, hey, if I'm retconning everything ELSE...I suppose I could make her an OC too, but why bother when there's already a perfectly good if criminally underused XLR8 girl already made?
We'll see if anything else comes of this.

I gotta say... of "Omniverse," my favorite new Ben-form has to be Bloxx... 'cause who doesn't love a golem made of LEGO?
Ball Weevil and Jury-Rigg are fun too. To say nothing of some of the new comic relief... I speak of course of those brilliant nitwits, Blukic and Driba.
