For the FWA art show! :D
Tried something a little different. Back in the day I had a HUGE marker phase where I did a lot of marker pictures with detailed inks. The more I did ink washes, the more I wanted to revisit the basic idea of the marker era and add ink pen to the ink wash. I'm enjoying the gritty look here so I'm sure there may be more like this in the future.
If you want to see progress shots, I made a post on Tumblr for that purpose here - http://arphalia.tumblr.com/post/44630377293/
Original is on 5x7 inch cold press watercolor paper. I used black and red ink for the washes and colors, mixing ink with water for the different tones. black ink pen (waterproof so I could go over the lines with washes) used for the detailing.

The way the hair looks makes me wonder what Neil Gaiman's character "Death" would look like in your style! [disclaimer: Not actually read any of the comics, just familiar with the character visually because it shows up in a lot of places]
Anyway! The textures in this are really yummy and the splash of color really adds some visual interest. Also, love the idea of spurred stompy boots.
