Here is our new foster dog, Darla. Her and all of her siblings are suffering from demodex mange. Darla is actually the best looking out of all of them. Her sister almost didn't make it and is pretty much completely bald. They were saved by the Pit Crew rescue in Sacramento, CA.
She is a very shy girl, but once she starts feeling better, I'm sure her inner puppy will come out :)

Pitbulls have a very special place in my heart... just look at those beautiful soulful eyes!
At fist when I saw the picture I was afraid she had been a baiting victim, but to learn that she just has a case of the mange is almost a relief.
What type of mange does she have? Are her and her siblings showing good signs of improvement?
Bless you for taking that little angel in <3

I was just told demodex mange, so I'm not sure if that's a type of mange or not. They've only been in the rescues care for a few days, so changes aren't noticeable yet, but hopefully soon!
They were born because of "accidental breeding," and the owner surrendered them. There were 10 puppies, but the rescue only has 3 or 4 of them, while he gave the rest away.

It is a type of non contagious mange caused by demodex mites. All dogs have them, but usually have a resistance to them so their numbers stay small. When it gets bad like this, there are usually underlying immune system issues, and in this case probably something genetic going on since her siblings have it too.
