HAR HAR I MADE A BUTT JOKE.
So this theater has been vacant since 1998 and is currently in the middle of sloppy litigation between the County and private property owner who defaulted on his taxes, hence the whole County interest in acquiring this otherwise derelict property. It's seen use as an art studio and private gallery room, but with the current swing toward County ownership, its days are likely numbered. For any form of government ownership, be it State, Federal, County, City, District, what have you, is the death knell of these types of places.
Ah well, better whore it up while it's around. The courthouse next to it turned into a McDonalds way ahead of it...

It's a trait of Baltimore, I imagine. We're a broke town, certainly too broke to engage in the kinds of restoration projects that would see a place like this return to prime conditions. One need only drive through downtown and see all the empty high rises with boarded windows and murals meant to make abandoned structures /look/ nice. Just the way we roll, I guess.
