Veeery belated gift for
suanelightfurr birthday! I am sorry for delivering this like, a few weeks late, but I can only hope it'll be somewhat of a nice unexpected addition to all the timely gifts ^^
I do draw slow, yeah... -_-
Anyways, drawing an almost completely white character proved to be an almost unsolvable riddle to my artistic perception... so I have thrown a vivid sunset in, betting that it will cast color reflexes and shadows everywhere, so I can avoid leaving the white parts in the picture (the idea of which, for some reason, scares me to no end... must be some artistic consciousness flaw o.O).
I still had some hard time guessing the lights/shadows, because I have almost no experience with color in general. Even now, when uploading, I have noticed a few things that are MAJORLY off with lighting... oh well, wouldn't be able to fix them anyway, because one of the things I have learned (painfully :P) while drawing this pic is that watercolors are totally not forgiving major mistakes, and are quite not allowing the substantial color changes (though they are surprisingly allowing for tone/saturation/color area fixes, at least, when no "competing" colors are in the way and ready to create odd mixes *x_X*).
The architecture is loosely based on St. Mark's cathedral in Venice (yes, it HAS weird structures like that, though not glowing nor green, on the domes top - I should really research what they are when I'll get some free time...), and Chinese/Venetian bridgework. Also, this is the first picture where I have dared to really put the "watercolor" part of the watercolor pencils to use, this being done fully in said pencils then "painted" over with wet brush.
Aaaanyways, all the best wishes, Suane, and I surely wish you see REAL Venice some day (if you haven't already, that is)! *^^*

Hee, thanks! ^^ It was a totally new coloring technique for me, glad it worked. And yeah, well, I just happen to like blue and yellow and their combinations. Had to go for less colors on the legs and tail though, it would look more like a shaded white than blue... oh well, I guess I just have more to learn.
Oh thank you so much!! *hugs the dragon ^.^* I'm still thinkin' about nice St-Petersburg furries, yes... Thanks, Rainesh! I like it and yes, I wish I had a trip to Venice! And I like to play with lightin' too. These nice buildings are like from fairy-tales and reminds me Lovecraft's orient town from the 'The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath'. It's so warm... and I also like little glowin' green things. ;3 It's lookin' very artistic!
