Song: unkle- safe in mind
Kyuss, in his evil form, screaming from atop the pile of pipes in his junk yard.
This was supposed to be many things.
It started out as a sketch which was meant to be Kyuss and Jester fighting. I couldn't get Jester how I wanted him and rather than draw him badly, I just cut him out. I liked how Kyuss looked enough for it to be a nice piece with just him.
Then it was supposed to be at sunset, and I did a red/orange/yellow sunset background. I messed about with it for hours but couldn't think of a way to get Kyuss to be anything other than silhouette against a sky like that. And doing him silhouette or even very dark obliterated the line work I liked so much.
So I scrapped that too and decided on a grey background which fit the mood but would allow me to use more colour. And there was supposed to be rain but I couldn't find a rain tutorial which didn't look naff. They all make the pic look washed out and tacky.
So the rain went too.
I also figured that since Kyuss, in this form at least, does not cast a shadow, cannot be touched and certainly wouldn't be touched by rain it saved me a lot of people saying 'but why isn't the rain landing on him?!'
I guess it was just practise in drawing him so I can get a step closer to doing the pic of him with his bones showing through.
Kyuss me
