A while ago, while I was working on BBS, I got another idea for a game, this time a sort-of parody Metroidvania called Pie Quest: The Quest for Pie. And though I drew the main character a couple times, they were both just design sketches, so I thought I’d finally draw a fully-colored pic (and get her color scheme down in the process.)
The main character doesn’t really have a name. She’s just referred to as “the girl” in the game (though I refer to her as Pie Quest Girl.) She lives in a small village in Tutoriala Valley, populated by eeriely-identical villagers who’s favorite pastimes are wandering aimlessly in one location. She isn’t capable of speaking; instead, an omnipresent disembodied voice known as The Narrator communicates for her, while narrating most everything she does. Unfortunately, the Narrator is also kind of a jerk and has a tendency to piss people off in order to create conflict.
One day, the girl finishes baking a pie and sets it out on the windowsill to cool, when suddenly it’s stolen by the Evil King, who obviously wants to use it for some kind of nefarious scheme (or maybe he’s just hungry.) So now it’s time for the girl to embark on an epic adventure to the four corners of the earth and retrieve the four Mystical Gems of Awesome Power…except she doesn’t want to. She’s not really the adventuring type, and as irritating as having your pie stolen is, she knows she can just bake another one and keep a closer eye on it this time. However, suddenly the plot is driven along by the girl’s oven mysteriously exploding, jettisoning her from her house, while the door mysteriously locks behind her. What mystery! Maybe she should go on an epic adventure to the four corners of the earth and retrieve the four Mystical Gems of Awesome Power and defeat the Evil King to get to the bottom of it!
Also, she bashes enemies’ skulls in with a giant rolling pin.
