After watching Ducky’s stuff for a while I was suddenly inspired to dig out Laeil’s superhero alter ego from a Marvel/DC/What-the-fuck-ever crossover RP called the Grey Divide, which fizzled out about a month after I first joined up, further cementing my status as the killer of RP boards.
Name: Jette Black (though nowadays I might call her the Black Beast)
Origin: Lyn Burbank (Laeil’s more normal-sounding alternate name) was a college student and writer in New York, when suddenly she came into contant with a mysterious alien entity which fused with her body through her right eye. Now sharing a body with a weird alien thing (which she eventually calls Izzy,) she knows pretty much nothing about what the hell this thing is, and neither does it, other than it is some kind of weapon, and exists solely to fight. And goddammit, is it gonna fight stuff, even if it has to jack control of Lyn’s body to do so. In order to find some kind of outlet and keep control of her body, Lyn turns to the ever-popular pasttime of crimefighting, because at least she’ll be beating up criminals and other bad guys. She doesn’t want anything to do with this superhero stuff, though, and looks for a way to get Izzy out of her so she can go back to a normal life.
Powers: Lyn has the ability to create “black matter” from her body, which she often uses to sprout weapons and create her costume (the ears and tail were eventually added as part of her disguise.) She’s also able to use it within her own body, to change the color of her skin and hair to further disguise herself, to mend injuries, and to reinforce her body to give her a limited degree of superhuman strength, speed and durability. There’s a limit to the amount of black matter that Lyn can produce at one time, though, and any objects she creates have to be in direct contact with her body, or else they’ll immediately disintegrate.
Notes: Laeil’s superhero alter ego was mainly inspired by the third Starman, Jack Knight, who also didn’t want anything to do with this superhero nonsense, and was forced into it. He also wears civvie clothes and a pair of aviator goggles as his costume instead of the standard spandex getup.
Just trying to get the design and color scheme solidified in this pic.
