Well, that was pretty epic, even if the server crashed halfway through everyone's drawing.... and before mine. I drew those two Hertzfeldt puffy things engaging in anal sex before I realized that everyone else was, ya know, actually drawing. Then I drew a car. Then I realized "DUURRR CAR R NOT FURRY" and erased it right before the whole thing went nuclear. It was parked in that little gap at the bottom.
So, an OC the likes of which I'll never see again :
gideon
faint
themadcatter
scappo
atomicstoney
ipoke
jessiefox
and I didn't even draw anything.
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Oh right, and if any of you artists wanted the full res BMP from it, note me up.

I've downloaded trillian on multiple occassions and on just as many occassions have I uninstalled it... The interface never appealed to me, and I still couldn't get it to work with AIM or ICQ... I can't remember which.
Maybe I'll check it out again, it was still pretty new the first times I looked at it.

http://pidgin.im/ is pretty awesome and I've found it more reliable than trillian, its free and open-source so when bugs are found they get fixed, its pretty rock stable for me. trillian would crash after a day.
Blarrrrrrrr!!! Google has failed me! Closest thing I found to what you might be doing is WarPaint which I couldn't get to work! :< And it's eating at me cuz I'm obsessive. 4.5 brought back Event files, but sadly, not networking. I wonder if they'll ever officially bring it back...
We used the N-SoCS stand-alone open canvas server from http://bw.ravenworks.ca/
It allows up to 24 users I believe, but apparently it gets unstable at 9 user and 18 layers :P
And as far as I know, they have no plans to bring back networking which is probably the dumbest thing they can do. I'd buy it on the spot!

Ravenworks?? Is that the same Ravenworks I've seen around the furry fandom? Ah, who knows. So like, only one person has to have that, and it rerouts all the event files through a group setting, I suppose? Doesn't sound too difficult.
Yeah, lack of networking is omgwtfdumb but what can ya do, yeah?
So can I get in on that OC thing? I <3 watching people draw. I suxxorz at it myself but meh :P

*Laughs* Schedule the event on a journal and have the first 8 people that sign up be invited? It's -supposed- to be more stable, but all in all, you'd still have to have everyone over Hamachi and not bog down layers (max 20-24 layers total or whatnot)
Still wanting to know which artist drew that snow vixen in the bottom corner. I liked it. :3

Ah, bottom right there is Andy, aka
themadcatter I'm gonna have to look up this hamachi people keep mentioning... I have no idea what it is.

Oh yeah, there's always a bit of a learning curve with tablets. It took me at least 6 months to get apt with it, and even then I'm still not as steady as I am with a pencil. The hardest part of it is learning a new hand/eye coordination because you can't look down at your hand while you draw, you have to be looking at the screen and the mouse cursor has to become your new hand. A tip that will aid you in learning that is to make sure you've got your tablet, be it on the desk in front of the screen or in your lap (like I do), parallel with your monitor.
As far as tilting the thing I don't think it matters much (ie my screens are vertical but i hold my tablet horizontal) but making sure that they're parallel will reduce the stress on your brain, because if you hold the tablet twisted to the left, a vertical line you draw (in reference to your body)on the tablet will slant to the right on the screen. Make sense?

Yes, that is true too. The Bamboo ones don't have as high a resolution as the Intuos and Cintiq lines, so you may find that you can't get quite the detail you're looking for, but there's an easy fix for that: zoom way the hell in on your pictures for the detail areas :)
