Oh dude, believe me when I say this; my Roush may be fast, but it's nothin' compared to an 80s muscle car. Sure, 'Stangs got lots of horses, but the oldie muscles got the raw horses that a suped up 'Stang like mine doesn't. You can't find raw horsepower in new age cars today like you did in the 80s. Besides...tired of using the 6 CD-changer all the time. Need somethin' where I can plug my iPod into and blast my music while on my way to work everyday, lol.
If I had to choose a time period for a car, it would have to be the lat 60s for a classic. Either a Ford, or a Chevy. One of those two. But yeah, there's just way too many Stangs around these days. But a new car sounds good right about now, lol. I'm lookin' at a new Subaru or Scion tC, though it's up in the air at the moment.
67 firebird Sprint is my favourite american muscle.
new cars are tough to choose from. Without knowing what you need it for i cant offer a meaningful opinion, Although my recent experience with the FR-S has told me that Toyota is more will to help with warranty issues then Subaru (the BRZ). But this is all on hearsay, so dont hold me to it!

Hmmm, the warrenty issue help does sound enticing...though, for a car, I just need something that'll get me to work every day, not too fast and not too slow. It's definitely got to have an iPod adapter, that's the number one thing. Though, I still gotta keep lookin'. There's a lot more to choose from besides the Scion and Subaru. I hear that Subaru's are pretty reliable though.
