This turned out a lot differently than the original did. In the original, Despair killed Connor offscreen and threw his mutilated body in front of Eileen. Either way, this pretty much shows Topham is evil but even evil has standards.
There are several shout-outs to Fire Emblem and Night Watch. Connor being held hostage on a cliff, the mention of a certain soundtrack. And as for the night watch, it's the whole spirit plane. It's more how your powers manifest yourself. Hence why Journey's plushies come to life and follow her.
Your guess is as good as anyone how Topham winds up teleporting around the world. He probably uses teleportation magic like Lezard Valeth. [/totally not lying.]
