So, this took most of the night, but I did up a pretty decent sketch using the following:
1. Motorola Xoom w/ Sketchpad Express
2. Importing the file to OC5 for cleanup and colouring.
I was wanting to take a stab at some shading, so well... I'm not displeased with the results! :)

I've heard a number of different recommendations from folks in that regard.
I have an older Motorola Xoom, and while it was a bit kludgy to do the sketch, it did work pretty nicely overall. Pressure sensitivity was mostly the issue for me, and some of that could have been due to the app or the screen protector I was using.
I have an artist friend who recommended an iPad and an app called ProCreate (which is kind of nifty looking).
Last but not least, if you're willing to chance it, Gabe from Penny Arcade was loaned/given a Windows Surface Pro to test - the big thing there? It uses the same touch interface that Cintiq's use, and costs a few hundred bucks less than the 12" Cintiq tablet (and of course, can do more than just be used for art).
Definitely test out a few of the options if you get the chance. :)

Might help if I linked the review I mentioned: http://www.penny-arcade.com/2013/02.....ms-surface-pro :P
