Well I see you blocked me again. You can feel free to block me on this username too, but I just wanted to let you know that I really do think you're a nice, genuine person. It's just a shame that this belief system has been imparted onto to you - that is, to judge and block off anybody who peacefully disagrees with you. That's really not the kind of person you are, even if you have done it repeatedly.
I'm sorry; I forgot you had this other account. And you're right; I shouldn't block anybody who disagrees with me. Thank you for believing that I am a genuinely nice person; I just happen to be one of those who say what's on my mind because my emotions get the best of me. And that's wrong.
I blocked your other one because I thought you said the Bible was its own cult. It is not. It is a library of books that tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth about how this world began, history of it, and what's to come in the end.
What you must understand about me is that I have my own code of ethics on top of what was passed down to me and what is in the Bible. As a result, I have become very narrow-minded, and I have shunned out and am fortunately ignorant of, for example, all the trash that's on television today. I'm also a traditonalist and nostalgist that accepts some modernization, such as the computer, since it's faster to type a story than handwrite it. But apart from this site, and a couple others, I do not use the internet.
The autism in me has taken its toll on me, too; it's part of why I do these things on impulse and act in the moment, and why I've never won an argument in my life. Not against you, anyway.

Well you know what I'm going to say next, obviously I would disagree that the bible is the truth and nothing but the truth, I'm a science guy after all, and I tend to live by hard facts backed up by math, physics, and the naked eye. Also, the way I see it, every religion is a cult. Those are two unapologetic things about me.
With that in mind, you shouldn't assume that I'm one of those know-it-all atheist types you makes fun of others for believing in religion. Religion itself doesn't bother me. If you want to believe God created existence, fine. If you want to believe that God is going to end existence, fine. If you want to believe you're going to go to heaven when you die, fine. None of that hurts anyone, and frankly is indeed more comforting than the actual fact, which is that the Sun is going to engulf the earth and kill every living thing on it forever. I'm not even disputing whether or not there's an afterlife because I'm not dead so I don't know.
My problems with religion start when people use it to judge others just for being different. When you say to somebody "You're gay and therefore deserve to suffer unimaginable pain for all of eternity because you love the wrong person." Even if that person's a great individual who's nothing but kind and generous. Or when the same is said for those who like to gamble. Or even those who do nothing sinful, yet deserve eternal fire because they don't believe what you believe. You know, Jesus said something along the lines of loving your fellow man regardless of what it is that he represents, but somehow that message has become lost in favor of using religion to condemn those that you refuse to understand. It's no longer about love, of faith, or hope. It's about "This is what you should do, and if you don't, you should suffer forever." And if you ask me, that sounds like a cult. Is Christianity the only religion guilty of this? Of course not, they all are to some degree. But to hold it over the head of those you deem beneath you as a result goes against the basic principals of what it's supposed to preach.
You get so upset with yourself for being narrow minded but it's never going to change if you constantly do all you can to shut out any other ideas that aren't your own. Not only does it disrespect the beliefs of others, but it renders your own invalid. You can't argue somebody else views if you refuse to acknowledge them in the first place.
So, to reiterate, the fact that you are a religious person doesn't bother me, religion is an effective comfort device. It's that you seem like to nice a person to follow it in the way that you do. I'm never going to agree with Christianity but I do know that being understanding of those you don't agree with isn't a sin. "Judge not lest ye be judged" I believe is the way the saying goes. Why is it that today's practicing Christians ignore that all-important line? According to your religion, your place is not to put people on trial, but to love them regardless and wait for God himself to deem them worthy or not. That's YOUR religion man. I think you should really consider that, because I can tell you from experience, it's way easier and less stressful to accept people for who they are, and is also highly recommended by Jesus himself.

Some fine points you have made there. I agree that I am not the best in Christianity (but I'm certainly not the worst either, because I'm not one of those street preachers that yells at everybody at an intersection through a megaphone, and may potentially cause a wreck; I've seen that happen). You are right in that it says, "Judge not lest ye be judged." I have done that in the past, and I certainly have been judged harshly for it, getting a taste of my own medicine.
While the autism in me has caused comprehension issues with understanding other people's arguments and what is it in the Bible (and there is quite a bit of confusing stuff in there), it has helped me to realize some of my faults, as well as why I feel miserable for being so narrow-minded. So the point is be open to a bigger variety, and accept others for who they are.

I'd the majority of Christians talk the talk but don't quite walk the walk. In fact non-believers probably have a better chance of practicing Christian ideals for that reason, because at it's base it's about love and understanding, or at least that's what we're supposed to think. But it's been interpreted over the years in so many ways that it gets clouded. One thing to remember is that the bible was not originally written in English, it was written in ancient Hebrew, retold countless times, translated in various languages, changed by whoever was in power in those areas (IE the King James version) and had to survive thousands of years of new interpretations. It's the world's longest-running game of "telephone." So you can't be sure that the habits you practice reflect the Bible's original texts. To give an example, many Christians think that Abortion is a sin and that AIDS is a means to punish homosexuals. And yet, nothing about those two things is referenced in the bible. But, if we were to re-write it as we've done in the past, they'd be in there (and probably something about Facebook, too!).
So my point here is that every single Christian in the world is probably doing it wrong because virtually nobody knows what the original teachings are, it's marred by years of differing interpretations. And that which you find sinful was likely added in by ancient individuals who personally did not like the act and therefore added it into the Bible which, at the time, was going through so many changes. I mean some Christians believe the Bible was written by God himself. I don't think so, but regardless of what I think we KNOW it's be re-written before, that's not even up for debate, the New Testament is NAMED that because it was re-written.
That's something you have to remember when judging people is that you'll never know who really said it. All you know for sure is that kindness makes the world a better place.
And no, you're not a worst Christian, not by a long shot. But those nutjobs at Westboro Baptist are certainly in the running.

Also, I consider God the author of the Bible; He handpicked specific people to write it down for us on Earth. And I have considered abortion a sin because abortion is killing the unborn baby. You kill the child; it's still murder! Yet it is a murder that doesn't put you behind bars. It's just illogical to me.
Okay but Leo, the bible was rewritten. There's the old testament and the new testament, and they really can't co-exist because they contradict each other. Even each version on its own contradicts itself. If they were written by God then well, God would be less than perfect. And to my other point, if that were the case then why wouldn't God have had another, new Bible written for the new world? Everything's different now, and the old Bibles are essentially outdated. He should have presented the Earth with somebody to write up a new bible to cover modern issues. For example, gay marriage isn't mentioned in the bible. In fact homosexuality is mentioned vaguely at best. Gay marriage is a hot button issue now as with abortion and AIDS and the holy wars we're essentially having in the middle east. Why is there no modern Bible to put these things in perspective? And for the record, I'm not trying to disprove the existence of God here, I'm saying that to be, it's kind of an insult to God to make him responsible for any part of the bible and all of its revisions because it's riddled with flaws, whereas God is supposed to be perfect. The Bible's contradictions are best explained by various people with differing viewpoints contributing to it.
As far as abortion goes, the thing is, I really had no opinions on it one way or another. But the pro-life people make themselves look like such idiots, and if they were just simply saying "we believe it's murder" well, fair point. But it's all the religious gibberish they tack on to it. Earth to Christians: Not everybody follows or wants to follow your religion. Honestly I don't think anybody should use abortion as a means of birth control, it should only be utilized in special circumstances. But the thing to consider is that if somebody wants to have an abortion, forcing them to have the child instead doesn't bode well for the child who may face a lifetime of pain and neglect. Kind of a similar issue is when a child has severe birth defects and will only live for a few torturous weeks. I recall a story like that where the parents had the child anyway because "that's what God wants." Yeah, God never said force a gravely ill baby to suffer because you're too selfish to know you should let it go. If that's what the big man's about, then it should be no wonder that Christianity's losing popularity. I'll take compassion over Christianity any day because contrary to what you may think, they rarely intersect.

That's my point, God can't be less than perfect based on religious belief but the Bible certainly is therefore, it has to be accepted to be written by man. King James changed the Bible to fit his liking, it certainly wasn't because he was some kind of religious prophet.
Wouldn't selling the bible for money be a form of blasphemy? I'm pretty sure making money off of the teachings of Christianity is a premium ticket to hell.
And many people over the last couple thousand years have had the bible edited to better suit their liking, the new testament is very, very different from the old testament in that regard. And let's not forget that Jesus wasn't teaching Christianity, he was reforming Judaism and quite honestly the fact that a huge religion was founded in his name and centered around him is actually against what he stood for.
But as I said before, the Bible hasn't been altered to apply to the modern world which, if written at the beckoning of God, should happen here and there based on your theory. Christianity's biggest problem, outside of often being used as a vehicle for hate and ignorance, is that it can't get its story straight. I believed I called it the world's longest running game of telephone, whatever was said and done in the beginning has in all likelihood been massively mistranslated now. Certainly now actually. because people always forget the part about not judging others and are constantly claiming to know what God's thinking on social matters. And honestly, if God really supports the progression of mankind I would think he'd want as to seek out knowledge and a better understanding of the universe around us rather than stubbornly cling to words and ideas presented thousands of years ago.
