We arrived on the new earth, I was on the deck the whole time, a transmission came on. A mechanical voice came out.
“Starship Traveler, you are clear for landing, welcome back.”
“Thank you Jenkins,” said Lex.
The ship landed, as we began to exit, Lex began talking with me again.
“Alright then, uhh...” he began, “wow, I just realized this, but I don’t know your name. What is it?”
“I’m the alchemist.”
“I asked for a name, alchemist who?”
Feeling like I’ve heard this somewhere before, I say the first thing that comes to mind. “Just the alchemist.”
“Fair enough,” said Lex, “anyway, before we can leave the station, you will have to meet Jenkins, the ‘commander’.”
We walked down the hall into a large room with many monitors, and dozens of furrs, dogs, cats, foxes, squirrels, everything, just doing work. Lex led me over to a relatively large monitor, or maybe normal, but seemed huge due to my new size.
“Jenkins, I brought the anomaly.”
The screen light up, and a strange symbol, something resembling two snakes wrapped around a harp showed up. The mechanical voice came from the computer.
“This appears to be a normal cub, Lex.”
“This cub is an android, similar to you Jenkins.”
“Indeed, has it been checked to make sure it is not from The Worn?”
“Yes I have.” I piped up.
“So it can speak,” said Jenkins, “fair enough, you are clear to take it into the city.”
“Thank you Jenkins.”
We left ‘Jenkins’, and proceed outside to a parking lot, where Lex took me to his car, it was red and had no wheels, but seemed to hover. It was long, and had four seats.
“Get in.” he said.
I got into the passenger seat, which began to lift, and a seat belt automatically locked itself in place. I looked down to see I was in a booster seat. I looked at Lex curious.
“Standard automatic child car seats, turns into one if a fur the size of a cub is detected.”
He got into the driver’s seat and pulled out of the parking lot. “We are going to need to get you some clothes, weather or not you get a family, you will need to wear something more than just a diaper.”
I looked down embarrassed, to see that this entire time I had been wearing nothing but the diaper put on me back at the ship. I looked back at him, and nodded.
“Oh and by the way, about Jenkins back there.he is the main computer program of the federation, he decides who goes where and does what. He’s a robot, I helped design and program him. We created him to help us defeat The Worn.”
The Worn, I thought to myself, Those aliens that the federation are at war with, perhaps they are the ones working for the destroyer? UHG! If only I had more time to figure out how all this stuff works!
“We are here.” said Lex. We had pulled up in front of a store, that I could only assume to be a clothing store. We exited his car and went inside, where we were greeted by a warm voice.
“Welcome!” said the voice, “I’ll be right out!”
“Take your time.” said Lex.
Eventually he came out, a large white rat, “Helloo! I’m Ramundo!” said he. “Oh Lex I see you came back! Did you rip your uniform again?” He then noticed me. “Oh. Who's your friend?”
“No, and this is... Al. He needs some clothes.”
I glanced over at him and he shrugged.
“Ahh I see, hes a baby bot no?”
“Yeah.” said Lex.
“Poor thing, your gunna try to find it a family, you know what they do with them right, they give them to their spoiled daughters who bring them here, get something pink, feed and change them once, and ignore them no matter how much they cry until they break, and throw them away.”
“Ramundo!” said Lex looking mad. He had looked at me and seen how worried I looked about that idea. “Just get him some clothes... and I’ll take one of these too.” as he said that he picked up a small black box with a heart shaped button on it.
“Ahh yes, ok then little guy, follow me.”
I followed Ramundo into the back room, full of all kinds of clothes for all sized furs. He brought me over to an area with a bunch of baby clothes and called over his friend.
“Pierre! Over here!”
Pierre was a large black rat with a thick French accent. When he came over, the two hugged, and Ramundo began telling him what they needed.
“We need to get this little one here some clothes.”
“Ok let us begin then.” On that word they began shuffling through the clothes, I was bored and curious, so I began to wander.
I came across several stands with full outfits on them. Ballerina dresses, sailor suits, rompers, onesies, and then one that caught my eye. I decided to try it on. It was a blue trench coat with a black t-shirt, a blue sailor hat, a blue pacifier with a train on the end, and two white gloves. Couldn’t help to notice no pants, but at least it didn’t look too bad with the diaper showing.
“Oh? There you are little one.” said Pierre, apparently they had been searching for me. “Hmm, that looks good on you. What do you think Ramundo?”
“Yes it does! Would you like to keep that outfit.”
I nodded yes as fast as I could. They then brought me back out front, where Lex was waiting, we then just left. Lex saying that his job would cover the bill.
“Now then lets go to the park, there should be a booth set up for adopters and adoptees to meet.” We walked across the street, where we saw a booth, no one else on the adoptee side, and one family on the adopter side. The family were three cat furs, very rich looking, a mother, a father, and their angry looking, obviously spoiled daughter. Seeing them after what Ramundo said, made me nervous.
“Lex, I don’t want to go over there.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, can I just stay with you tonight?”
“Sure, its getting late anyway.”
We went to his apartment, back on the base, it was surprisingly well furbished, with a TV, a couch, and two beds? Oh, he bunks with Dr. Franz.
“Welcome back Lex. Oh hey its... gee, even after your scanning I don’t know your name little guy, regardless I didn’t expect to see you again, baby bots aren’t usually allowed in this area.”
“My name is The Alchemist, and yeah I’m going to be with you guys tonight.”
After the sun had set, we went to the mess hall, where those two ate, I didn’t mainly because I had found no reason to use my alchemy yet. We went back to the apartment, where they began playing a game of chess while I layed out on the couch. As I layed there I began thinking to myself. Maybe The Worn work for the destroyer? Maybe I should join them? After much thought, I decided to let Lex know.
“Lex.”
“Yeah?”
“I want to join the federation.”
“I kinda figured you would. That’s why I got you this.” He then pulled out the box from earlier, and handed it to me. “Push the button.”
I did as he said, a small metal rod appeared out of the top of the box, and scanned me with a red light. The box then opened, showing a small white egg that could fit in the palm of my hand. It was squishy and had what appeared to be a patch on the side. I touched the patch and it moved. I dropped the egg. It suddenly began to grow! bigger and bigger it got, growing limbs and a head, keeping the patch pattern, and turning yellow. When it finished transforming, it was Lex’s height, and looked like a large yellow kangaroo.
It talked in a warm female voice. “Hello, my name is Cat, what's your’s?”
“I-I’m The Alchemist.”
Suddenly she gained a lot of energy, “Oh my gosh, you are sooooo cute!” she then picked me up and hugged me, she was soft and warm, squishy too. “So I take it I’m your Cubby Alchemist?”
“What’s a Cubby?” I asked.
“A Cubby is an artificial lifeform designed to take care of little cubs like you silly! I can become any form you want, I can store extra clothes, food, and other things inside me, I’m bigger on the inside. I’m your diaper, and can change myself. If i’m in an animal form like this, just walk like normal in me, and I’ll move where you want me too. Speaking of which.”
She suddenly looked down, and noticed my diaper, I looked down too, what was once white was now completely yellow. “Oh dear, looks like you released me just in time!”
She then proceeded to take off my diaper, and wipe me down, she then picked me up and stuck me in her pouch. “There you go sweety! You’ll be nice and warm in there.” Indeed it was warm, soft too.
“Hello Ms. Cat, I’m Captain Lex, you and your cub are now members of the galactic federation. Welcome aboard. You will begin on a training mission aboard my ship tomorrow.”
It was late, dark out, and Cat was so warm and so soft. I could barely stay awake, in fact I quickly fell asleep inside her pouch, before I fell completely asleep, she hopped over to a spot on the floor and laid down on her back, acting as a large, soft, warm bed for me to sleep in.
