of course since longswords are LONG. AS. FUCK i had to kinda skim it down a little. i don't think most people realize how large they really are.

i took a class on them briefly. very briefly. when it became clear that the sword itself was to me as the freaking buster sword is to cloud in ff7, i had second thoughts. when an over exuberant classmate who clearly fancied himself a modern day night stabbed me directly in the throat during excersises which were specifically to be no-touching-skin...i decided i was done

well the swords aren't sharp. they're not supposed to be, they're more about bonecrushing than cutting. but it hurt, a lot.

The only crushing swords I've seen were in Demon's Souls, that being the Dragon Bone Smasher.

i'm not much a fan of pointing weapons at people haha. i just think the classes in general were not my thing. but a friend was in them and the instructor really wanted more students so :B

i'm just a short person. so when the longsword was placed tip-down on a mat, the ...pommel? hilt? would be at chin-height for me. it just was kind of rediculous looking.

well they did have full plate but the basics of the class were like most other classes - you practiced the moves without the plate before donning it. so sparring was with wooden swords, and everyone was typically very careful and controlled.

except for that one kid, who i guess kept picturing himself in a ren faire battle or something.
