I have fond memories of this type of Ford truck. My grandpa bought a 1970 F-100 brand new and 20 years later I learned how to drive using that very truck. No power steering or brakes, floor boards rusting out, steel belts showing from the dry rotted snow tires, and on a winding gravel road. That particular one was sold for scrap only six years later. So it's good to see these old trucks getting some much needed car show attention.

Ahh... I have fond memories of that type of Ford truck too. My day owned this exact model and year, but it was red. Sure it was a slightly faded and a little rough around the edges (it was a true work truck and used it to pull our travel trailer [from the 70's] for years) but it refused to die. If it went down dad just fiddled with it under the hood a bit - whatever the case it was - and it started right back up. An amusing thing I remember was that his steering column went out three times and on the forth time he decided to just cut a hole in the floorboard, rig literally a metal rod down to the automatic transmission and used that has a shifter, haha.
We called it "Big Red" and I really miss that truck; mainly because I think it reminds me of the good times with my dad. Thanks for sharing ^.^

I had an f-150. It was my first car. 3 on the tree, straight 6 flintstone brakes (no floor.) It was like a tractor with a body. I LOVED it! My mom was afraid of me going out of town in it. The next owner took it up to Canada towing a boat with a 4 wheeler in the bed. 300K and perhaps still going somewhere. (I had power steering though;)
I saw one just like this body style just the other day, oddly enough. Real nice looking, although I think it was a little lighter blue than this (or color was faded)... and it was the classic typical guy driving around with his dog in the back. I always was more a fan of those old (and apparently immensely rare) "Texas sedans", though. Nowdays, 4-door trucks are fairly common, but back when, they were rather a rarity. This is still a truck I wouldn't mind cruising around in, even if I am more a Chevy kinda guy. Back when building vehicles was more an art form, and not just tossing the cheapest-to-make thing they could out the door. The good ol days... I miss them... Although I grew up all through the 80s, there was a LOT of 70s, even a good bit of '60s cars on the road when I was a kid. Now, it's almost a miracle to see anything running around that is pre'90. Of course... a 1990 car is 23 years old now, and an '88 is classic already.
