The Shrill (UFBT Creature Compendium Excerpt)
I don't really have anything for the Shrill that I have drawn and finished, this is pretty much the closest thing I have to finished which is something I randomly sketched at work when I had nothing to do.
----The Shrill Origin----
Creatures born of the cataclysm, they come from the "Decayed Lands", the area where the cataclysm began. Since the cataclysm creates something warped from something that was originally normal each creature represents something, however, the Shrill still confuse the minds of The Keepers who study them. Some believe they are the remnant of what was once considered good and evil tightly packed into a small four legged package, others believe they are a warning to a curse that will soon sweep over the area they inhabit as destruction seems to follow the path of a Shrill. What they truly represent is generally considered unknown and, due to how dangerous The Shrill are, most would prefer to leave it that way.
----The Shrill Bio----
The Shrill are creatures that look something like a mix between a fox and a cat and are just as small. They normally have a bright white body that has a soft, smooth, fur-like look and sheen, they walk on four legs, have two thick ears, three tails that wrap around one another in a random pattern, and finally two large eyes that are pools of pure black, as well the ears and tails seem to let off little fragments that float away and dissipate. Some have claimed that if you stare into the eyes of a Shrill for too long you begin to see fragmented memories of people in the past unfortunately anyone who might be able to confirm this has usually been found on the very edge of their sanity. Unless they want someone to touch them they are incorporeal and can phase through anything that isn't imbued with some amount of magic. When angry, or when they feel threatened, their body shifts to pure black and their eyes turn pure white, the soft fur-like look becomes jagged, its tails become tightly coiled with sharp tips and a jagged appearance, and finally they grow larger with sharp teeth and claws making them extremely menacing alone. Most notable of about about the Shrill is the noise they make for which they are aptly named, they let out a shrill mew when they are calm (White bodied), but when they are angry they let out an shrill ear piercing screech that is loud enough to be heard over very long distances. The noise they make isn't simply aesthetic either, when calm this sound is capable of soothing even the most aggressive creatures, but when they are angry without something to muffle the noise it is capable of permanently deafening anyone too close to it. Another use of the noise is to call more Shrill to the area, hundreds or even thousands in a matter of seconds. Due to their ability to become incorporeal it is advised to avoid angering one if confronted and, if possible, avoid contact with any Shrill altogether. Unfortunately for most Shrill are extremely curious creatures and will generally follow anyone they take even a slight interest in. In the event one finds theirself being tailed by a Shrill it's suggested that they do everything within their power to avoid angering it until it finally leaves them alone which in itself is a heavy task since Shrill can become angry simply by not getting what they want.
